Ski rack mileage impact on Range

I have ski racks on Rivian OEM crossbars. Is there a big difference on range if i mount them on the cab versus over the tonneau?

I just returned from a ski trip in our R1S 1,800 KM and the range dropped to 2.54 KM per KW hour. We used a Thule ski carrier and the out side temperature over the week was minus 5 C to minus 22 C.

During summer months with no Thule or crossbars on we range about 3.6 KM per KW hour. So about a 30 % drop in distance.

I would attribute a good portion of that range loss to the temps.

The range drop for the crossbars and ski rack, whatever that is, would likely be less over the rear on the R1T than over the roof. You can be certain it will be much quieter over the rear as well.

This has been well documented on this forum and elsewhere. Crossbar effect is insignificant. Ski rack would be slightly more than insignificant. Cargo carrier is in the 3% range max according to jeeden (https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/do-cargo-cross-bars-decrease-range.31330/post-592866) on an R1S. Having a ski rack implies cold weather and that has a far greater negative impact on efficiency.
