My R1T has been in a (Rivian certified) body shop for a bit. They're repairing a rear panel dent (don't ask--I was an idiot; will post the story one of these days) and a windshield crack (the usual: some random stone chipped it and the crack propagated before I even noticed it--it was almost a foot long before I caught it). It's almost ready for retrieval (yay!). I got a rather cryptic e-mail from the body shop reading "they are here now, doing the calibrations." Who are "they"? Are calibrations something that even Rivian Certified Collision Centers need to call in Rivian to do for them? Or am I just reading too much into it and it's just in-house techs doing what they've been trained to do?

Not an earth-shattering question--I can ask when I pick up my truck tomorrow. But I'm just curious if any of you have reliable insights into what "calibration" involves and whether it needs an actual Rivian person to do it.

It’s my understanding that only Rivian has the programming for doing the calibration. I recently had my windshield replaced by safelite and had to have Rivian mobile service come out to do the calibration.

So I think “they” is referring to Rivian directly. They are calbriating the camera used for detecting vehicles and other obstacles in front.

That's my inference also! Many thanks for the input!
