Stability Function Settings not staying on

We have found that the setting at “reduced” stability gives a more favorable response to speed bumps and driveways, but why does it jump right back to “on” as soon as you engage other features like cruise control? For town driving we really would like to keep it at the reduced setting. How can we do that? Thanks in advance for any input?
