Super fast DM R1T delivery

I locked a DM R1t from the shop when they first became available last week and Rivian says it will be ready for delivery this Friday 9/29. Dallas, TX. The vehicle is being transported to Dallas not from Normal plant but CA? Maybe someone in CA just had a change of mind. I just hope this wasn’t a rejected vehicle because of QC issues. Is anyone else experiencing this super fast delivery by confirming available configs from the shop. I reserved March, 2023 and so did not expect to have a delivery until at least early next year. This is a pleasant surprise but I’m curious how a large batch of DM became available to everyone all of a sudden? Wish me luck next week. Any delivery day advice would be appreciated!

Auto manufacturers typically produce a bunch of vehicles before they're released for sale (called OK-to-buy or OKTB by some companies). It's a way for them to make sure there aren't QC problems at scale production before releasing them into the wild. They probably used this process with the DM's because it's a new powertrain.

So they probably had a bunch of DM's on hand when the OKTB was issued which would explain the huge bolus of vehicles.

Cancellations probably also played into the large number of DM's in the shop.

I locked in my R1T Quad Motor on Friday (9/22) and was also scheduled for pickup next week (Dalls, TX as well). I went by there yesterday and they had quite a batch of R1T and R1S on the dirt lot at either side of the SC. Think mine was already in Dallas, TX.

Rivian is doing everything they can to finalize sales before Q3 ends on Saturday.

I ordered my R1T quad max March of 2019. Changed to dual max when advised no quads with max in forseable future. Had a delivery window before last delivery window update of sep-dec23. Changed to Dec23-Jan24 last update in August. A few days later delivery window change to “processing”. Working on 5 years. I am so impressed with Rivians communications dept

Don't worry about shop vehicles quality. I bought one from the shop and it is perfect no issues what so ever.
