I had an early (#89K) reservation on a CT. I had ordered it bc of the specs and the idea of a uber capable EV truck like vehicle. After seeing one up close, driving it and the E factor, I decided to cancel. Ordered a R1s tri max and it is truly phenomenal. The design details and the driving dynamics are absolutely spectacular. I look forward to driving it every day. I hope Rivian is able to invest in expanding their charging network. There is an enormous opportunity for them to provide a needed service for all R/EV owners and enjoy more cash flow, increase value and stability in this expanding market.

people want a Rivian, it seems Tesla can't give CTs away. Can't blame poeple it is one of the ugliest looking things on the road.

I was consider to get one and using power sharing to charge my another EV daily. (about 10-12 kw. however Tesla does mention free charge is against power sharing)
but one year only save about $2500 for me, 10 year 25k. if I sell my R1T QM LE for 56k which carmax offered. still out of pocket 43k. not worth it.

That would mean 50 weeks of your time pumping out gas, then, considering EV owners spend at most 1 minute in each charging session at home, where 95% of the charging might take place for most everybody.
ICE=Getting hands smelly, breathing in cancerous fumes, driving to some gas station, even when 20 below outside, the real noooo, thanks.
I agree. A huge benefit to an ev is being able to charge at home when you aren’t using the car.

My comment was in response to the member that said free charging over 100k miles is a savings of $22k. No way I’d be solely charging at super chargers to save $ and waste it with my time.

A few of the super chargers I've used are at grocery stores. I could definitely see someone exclusively supercharging if that is their usual grocery store and they simply charged while doing regular weekly grocery shopping.

That is a chunk of change on the CT.

At an average of 2 miles/kWh and 45 cents a kWh that is $22,500 For 100k miles.
But you'd have to dive the CT that far to get the $22,500 value in charging. I wouldn't want to drive it even 100 miles.

Similar situation for me. I had one on order but couldn't get past how ugly it was in person and how spartan the interior was. Having to use a camera when the rear tonneau cover was up was really the last straw. I was, and still am, deep in the Tesla ecosystem so hard to walk away for a lot of reasons.

I did enjoy its acceleration, familiarity with how everything works, and the 4 wheel steering. The bigger bed was nice, but that actually would have made it about 2' too long to park where I need to every day.

Lifetime supercharging seems nice, but I don't road trip enough to make it big savings, and the potential increased battery degradation would have been a concern if I did it all the time. Charging at home is worth the convenience of the cost. Our electricity isn't terrible, I think it is about .12 kWh. FSD I rent on another car when I need it. It is far superior to anything Rivian has and I would appreciate it but not use it enough to sway me that much. The lack of ultrasonic sensors, though, I would for sure. I hated when Tesla removed those, and I purposely didn't buy a 2023 Plaid because they went to that stupid vision-only setup.

In the end, if Tesla had made a more "normal" truck, than the freakshow they created, I probably would have bought one. My past 5 Teslas have had less issues put together than my 1 Rivian so far.. I still wouldn't buy a CT. I was willing to buy it when it was pretty much the only game in town. Too long to market and way to spartan inside. Not to mention, I find it even more hideous as time goes on.

For the charging limits, they are likely trying to make sure you aren't using it for commercial purposes like ride sharing. A long, long, time ago, unlimited supercharging was transferable. There are some of those unicorn Teslas out there still. They added the free supercharing to the Model S and bumped up the base price 5k. It still might make sense if you live in an apartment or have high electricity costs where you live.

I don’t know what Tesla’s lifetime supercharging offers normal include in the fine print, but in this case they say it cannot be transferred to another Tesla or another owner if you sell your truck. It also says they can take the deal back if they feel you are charging too much.

I noticed the fineprint that comes with it now. My Tesla Model S Performance has free lifetime supercharging, full stop. No fineprint.
It feels so good to plug an EV without getting scammed and ripped off with absurd electricity prices, although Tesla chargers cost less than most others.

Still, free supercharging is great if and when I go on long trips; I am not about to drive my Tesla to the nearest one for all other regular charging. My time is worth a lot, and I can fully charge it at home for less than $7.00, truly dirt cheap electricity.

Still not worth it. Your food bill would offset any savings from throwing up every time you look at it.
