What does it mean when Spotify shows me a bunch of playlists, but won’t let me select/play them?

I touch a prominently displayed playlist under the “for you” section, and nothing happens besides a momentary glitch in the audio. Nothing. No, I’m not “out of skips”.

Is this related to the “every 15min commercial” Spotify Premium limitation or does Spotify and/or the Rivian Spotify app just suck?

Cause I’m not paying premium for something that doesn’t work or a product that thinks the best way to sell itself to me is to nag me constantly and screw with normal operations.

This almost immediately leads me to switch to BT from my phone playing Apple Music (and then a grumble about Car Play and physical interaction with my phone that makes driving more dangerous)

bingo.

Spotify sucks for many reasons — primarily low music quality, and missing catalog items. The app in the Rivian center screen also sucks — there is no visual feedback when it’s “processing” a request and their networking stack is buggy as hell so a lot of web requests time out or fail so the UI just sits there and you don’t know what’s going on. I’ve had to re-tap things several times and eventually they work, but then sometimes older requests eventually get fulfilled and replace what later requests did. This is prominent in the Spotify UI but also visible elsewhere, such as navigation.

I have spent moths here clutching at pearls, anxiously wondering whether or not the R1T was going to have decent entertainment, i.e. will I be able to play the albums I like with great sound. Then Mike shows up with his R1T and shows me how easy it is to use Alexa. He played "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith, and I was blown away. The sound was just as good as my XC90's Bowers and Wilkins system, and that's saying a lot.

I'm sure there will be issues - there always are. But the Alexa angle looks pretty good to me for now.

Please share what setting were used, because the B&W, in my experience, eats the Meridians lunch.

I have no idea. I don’t drive Mike’s R1T. ?

On a more semi-serious note, I always found the B&W’s to produce a bit too much bass, even at the “negative” slider settings.

Not a bad thing, particularly when in a line of stopped traffic, and the guy next to you had to show off their beater boom-box system playing C-rap at max volume, complete with flapping torn woofers. My go-to was always Heart’s “Crazy on You” which at full volume could always make the XC90 bounce a bit.

Not exactly, no. It definitely doesn't follow whatever quality setting you choose in the phone app. It does have its own quality option in the Rivian/Spotify settings screen... Whether it works, or not, is debatable. It let me choose "Very High" even with a Free subscription, despite that being limited to Premium users. I upgraded to a premium subscription and ads did go away, but the settings page looks the same.

There isn't much info to really determine what bitrate it's actually streaming at. I can say it doesn't sound as good as other services.
Would you mind to elaborate on the "Rivian/Spotify settings screen". I can't seem to find anywhere to set streaming quality in the built in spotify app itself. Thanks

Button in the top right corner of the Spotify screen on the Music tab. You have to be in Park; it's disabled when driving.

Two issues I've noticed the past few days (before and after latest OTA).

The suggested episodes for podcasts on Spotify that show up on Good Morning screen will not play. Like they are dead links. The music fly out on the right just shows a blank music note.

I have to go into the Library, Podcasts and the main list of a given podcast to actually play that episode.

Also - even more annoying, Alexa could skip 15 seconds, or a minute or whatever up until a few days ago. Now she listens to the command but just does a weird beep and won't skip forward.

Had the same thing, but went away, presumably with a sleep cycle. You can also just try a soft reset.
