Does anyone have a definitive answer as to what the off-road package shielding offers in practice? I know we have some recent photos of the truck without the package and that others have stated that the difference is not visible (Ie sandwiched between the standard exterior shielding and the battery). I have not gotten any responses from cs other than the canned “it adds an extra layer of protection”. Their marketing says it extends farther over the underside of the car so I thought it would be a visible difference, but apparently not? Would be great to get specs from rivian (Ie psi ratings or crack tip shielding data) but we will probably never see that info. Thx in advance for any info. It may have been covered in other pictures in the forum.

I read somewhere that with the underbody shield, the entire weight of the truck (7K lbs) can be supported on 1 square inch area or so under the truck. I don't know how that compares to the R1T without the shield.

Rivian has claimed you can't tell the difference between trucks with and without the underbody shield just by looking under them. I'd wager that this really means they are only producing trucks with the full off-road package but not charging for it unless you checked that box.

@SANZC02 my guide said no delay in dropping the underbody shield, since the truck isn't even built yet anyway.
