Obviously no one knows for sure but with rising interest rates and economy sliding into a recession, my guess is that values will go down in the short term.
If you live in a state where your sales tax is reduced with a trade in, you have to decide whether it’s worth waiting to see Rivian’s offer. Here in CO if their offer is within $3k or so of what one could get selling it privately, it’s probably worth trading it to Rivian just for the convenience alone.
My state does make it advantageous to trade in, but Rivian only offered $52000. If I can get $62500, it negates the tax savings.
Yep, that is a pretty big difference. In that situation I would probably take the money. The only other factor for me would be transportation until the Rivian gets delivered. I’m a 1 vehicle person. If you don’t have that issue then get as much as possible!
