My R1S that I picked up in June had just shy of 90 miles on the odometer which I thought seemed high. But it looked fabulous and has been troublefree so far (except a bad speaker that gets a mobile service fix in a few days).

Quick update, I went to the service center, I signed all the paper work, they took my R1T, after that we went to check the R1S, it was in pristine condition, 16 miles on the clock, emblems on, everything aligned and in working condition, tires perfect...... I only found a few details that they address on the spot.

I have it for a week now, drove 200 miles, all perfect, I only found a few minor things that need to be corrected... being the most severe the horn......it sound broken..... I'm happy how everything went.

Let's talk about the jump from the R1T to the R1S..... oh boy oh boy, the R1S felt tinny compared the the R1T.... Those 17 inches are very noticeable, don't ask me why, but not having the Tunnel and not having the bed feel like I did the wrong move.... It took me a week to get used to the new size.... at one point I even consider to return it and ask them to give me my R1T back.....

Instead I gave time to settle in and now I feel I will keep it.

Also my R1T was on 20" AT's they felt massive, and now I'm driving 21".... which are smoother to drive, but man the looks its killing me, so I ordered a set of AT's right away.

My 2 cents;
I think they shouldn't reduce the length of the R1S by 17".... big mistake, no one would ever complain having 3" extra inches between the second and third row and 5" more on the back. Still 6" shorter than the R1T but way more spacious inside.

glad to hear youre enjoying the R1S. i have an R1T and considering switching to the R1S for the extra seats. i love everything about the T so might have some buyers remorse if i switch.

how much did Rivian give you for your R1T trade-in?

They gave me $77k for a 9000 miles 2022 with functional tonneau and AT wheels.
Plus I took advantage of the sales tax exemption on the tradein amount..

Kbb offer was $66k

It funny how all of us have different perspectives about the two cars. I just traded my 1 year old R1T for an R1S. IMO I prefer the R1S to the R1T from the moment I got into it. The size of the R1S is perfect. Just about the same size as my wifes 200 Series Land Cruiser. For me, the R1T size was the issue. I have an F250 that I use for truck things. I always felt like the bed on the R1T was way too small and limited the way I used it. The R1S is so much easier to park and turning radius is far superior.

At the end of the day both are very very similar. So it all depends upon how you intend to use the vehicle and which one suits your needs best.

not bad. based on your delivery date of 2022, id say they gave you the value based on current prices and not your pre-hike price?

and whats a sales tax exemption on a tradein mean? you only pay tax on the difference between the tradein value and the new vehicle value?

Once I put the same wheels that I had on the R1T I can compare apples to apples.

The smoothens of the 21's are very noticeable, is more maneuverable, you can fit it anywhere and a little bit more jumpy.... everything else are exactly the same.

The difference between the trade-in and the new vehicle. That's key, it save me $5k in taxes so if I were to sell it privately I would have to get $ 82k to match their offer. I would said that's impossible. So I took the $77k.
