I perceive that Rivian has made progress since the ramp of R1T and R1S.

For my R1S, I got my first delivery estimate 3 years and 8 months after I paid my $1000 reservation. And that delivery estimate (April-June 2023) was, at best, 5 months too optimistic.

The R2 ramp will be better. It has to be.

And ironically if you buy a Tesla in SC you have to pick it up in NC. Rivian lawyers vs Tesla lawyers on interpreting state laws lol.
I went to do a second demo today, this time with a Catalina Cove on the 20-inch A/T tires. The sales rep (who has helped me each of the four times I've come into the showroom and knows me by name), said that within the next few weeks, you'll be able to take delivery at the Knightdale, NC service center. I don't know what they worked out with the NC legislature, but that will save me from having to drive to Richmond.

Well maybe it’s just Charlotte people then bc they definitely have to go to SC, the exact opposite of what Tesla does lol.

There’s also the fact that some estimates have EV sales as a percentage of all new auto sales in the US peaking in 2025, with hybrids the only growing segment in 2026 and beyond, replacing ICE.

The window for when you can expect your order invitation is August - September.
(I would expect by the end of September in that case.)
The 4-8 weeks is the expected delivbery time AFTER you place your order. From the update email:
"Once you place your order and receive confirmation, you can expect to take delivery within 4-8 weeks for most configurations."
There are two different messages out.
Some are saying between two months and some are saying between weeks to get an order invite. Once you ordered than it can take between 4 to 8 weeks for the delivery.

I suppose 4-8 weeks starting in July is by the beginning of Sept whereas August-Sept is possibly the end of Sept. so maybe they are not the same.

As mentioned above, I got 4-8 to order (and 4-8 weeks delivery)
