What triggers Gear Guard recording?

I wonder if it's the data cable, but if it's the one that came with the drive... should be sufficient. That's interesting. I'm glad you're still getting video. I was just wondering because I have some Sandisk portable SSDs collecting dust I could be using.

I am usung a SanDisk that has the low profile L shape and plugs into the small USB port without a cable! I feared a cable issue so bought this one.
