I have the twraps outer windshield film and roof glass film. Massive difference in heat. I tossed out the shade screens for both.

Do you have the glass that darkens electronically? Heard you weren't supposed to tint those.

I don't have the electronic glass. I do also have internal tint on all of the glass. 97% for the windshield and 20% on all others. The Twraps WPF is on the windshield, roof, and rear glass. I live in Phoenix and we're already well past 100 degrees. The improvement is just massive, particularly with the WPF on the roof. I spent several hours in the car today in the hottest part of the day, and checked the heat near the roof; it's so much better.

'25 R1S with the dynamic glass sunroof. Llumar Stratos ceramic tint all around. 15% on all windows, 50% windshield, 50% each sunroof. I chose 50% because I didn't want to go too dark but wanted the minimal amount of tint with a reasonably effective amount of UV protection (70% seemed to have too insignificant UV protection for me to even consider). I'm able to see just fine at night. If I'm being extra cautious at a left turn that is poorly lit then I'll roll down the windows to check for pedestrians before going. The windshield I have no problems seeing out of, even when driving in the mountain roads or city streets at night.

I'm not the right person to ask about tint laws in California (obviously idgaf what they are). There are plenty of others who will gladly tell you what they are.

I do wish the sunroof more clear so I can enjoy it more during the day, but not enough to go back on the tinted sunroof and definitely not enough to want regular sunroof over dynamic. I had a gen 1 R1S loaner without the dynamic glass and it was still tinted (from the factory) about the same as what I have (from what I could tell). I'm definitely not in the camp that hates sunroofs. Lack of panoramic sunroof is actually the reason I no longer considered the new 4Runner and ended up stumbling upon (and buying) the R1S (among many other reasons, but it was the sunroof that steered me away from the new 4Runner).

Had the tint about a year and it's held up very nicely in the heat. It doesn't eliminate the heat entirely but significantly reduces it. Very noticeable if I roll down the window and feel the direct sunlight in comparison. If I'm parked at a charging station and the sun is intense, I'll put up the HeatShield reflectors and Rivian brand windshield cover, which pretty much block out the sun, then remove them before I leave.

Also, I wouldn't pay much attention to rumors about exploding sunroofs or whatever. I've been in both nearly 120°F summer in Owens Valley and -8°F Canadian winter with this tint and it's fine.

So are you adding tint to the rear side windows? I believe factory is around 20%, if you add much of anything to that it seems it would be hard to see through.

It’s not, at least from the inside out. I’m now at 5% (over the factory) and it doesn’t impact visibility out at all. (Technically I’m sure there is some but it’s not noticeable).
