wheel size for spare

Can a 21 inch wheel be used as a temporary wheel on a rivian with 22 inch wheels? I have a r1s with 21 inch wheels and a family member has the 22 inch wheels. I would like to purchase a 21 inch spare for use in both cars if needed. Thanks for your response.

It's not so much the wheel that matters. It's the overall diameter of the tires. Between 275/55R21 and 275/50R22 there is a -0.3% difference (or a tenth of an inch in diameter). Driven temporarily and conservatively, that might not be enough to upset stability and traction control software. But I don't know for sure. Personally, I would match with the rest so that you can rotate them—as a part of your 7,500 mi maintenance interval—and get more use out of tires before replacement is needed. Assuming tread depth isn't too different (more than 2/32") between all 5 tires. Shouldn't have any problems finding individual wheels in each size on eBay or from salvagers.

Keep in mind the inflate-a-spare for the R1S is all of 30" inflated. So long as you're truly using it temporarily (low miles, low speed), you should be fine with some disparity.

I bought a 21" spare for my 22" R1T...it's a spare until get the tire fixed/replace so I don't see an issue.

No different than using the space saver spare that the R1S uses

Won't be a problem but storing it is an issue on the R1S. The space saver is a 20
