Tom from State of Charge and the Batteries Included podcast had a good explanation as to why dealerships suck at selling electric cars. Here’s a similar British-flavored explanation, but it tracks.

“Many dealerships are hesitant to sell electric vehicles (EVs) because they often receive less commission on EV sales compared to traditional gasoline vehicles, and EVs require less maintenance, which reduces potential service revenue. Additionally, some sales personnel may lack proper training on EVs and may even discourage customers from purchasing them in favor of more familiar petrol options.”

So basically money.
