Why no AM Radio? These are the frequencies that report emergencies and road status when driving. Seems shortsighted that only have FM Radio. FM radio channels jump around a lot when they are on screen too.

I'm not a radar engineer, but I'm pretty sure AM radio is impossible in most electric vehicles. The vehicle creates too much interference.

If you need AM you can still use the TuneIn app.

I also have a Chevy Bolt that has AM - so it doesn't seem it is a problem for that vehicle. They can also install a static suppressor to resolve that issue - just sayin'

Yeah, that's interesting. This will be my first EV so I have only read that AM is a tough thing to add to EVs - never experienced it myself. Does seem like something they should be able to pull off if people demanded it.

If I need to listen to AM radio to find out what’s going on it’s already too late for me.

It wasn't an issue until I drove from Los Angeles to Vancouver. When travelling between Redding and the Oregon border, I saw lots of signs to tune into AM 1610 for latest road conditions (it was also snowing) and realized - I couldn't, seems like a safety issue. BTW, chains not recommended for Rivian, get snow socks before you travel.

They still do that in rural parts of CO and WY too. I've never found it to be much help, although I used to have a Subaru that had a weather band radio and it saved my behind while driving in rural KS for work once. It was pitch black outside and suddenly the weather just turned horrible and tornado warnings started coming through. That radio told me where it had been sighted and which direction it was headed. Otherwise I was a sitting duck.

Yes, agreed and I do follow the wx apps to stay up-to-date. It did come as a surprise however that AM wasn't included.
