I have been waiting to order a spare wheel/tire combo since taking delivery being my R1T did not come with one. What is the reason that you think that it is taking so long for them to offer them in the gear store, particularly since they already offer the full set? It would seem like low-hanging fruit as it is not requiring any redesign, and the tires are not made by Rivian so would not take any resources from the production ramp-up.

The situation suggests that Rivian is getting just enough tires or wheels to keep production running.

I would normally say that you are in the order queue and will get the tire when its your turn. But with Rivian the more certain approach is to start a youtube channel and complain about not having a spare.

Wheels/tires have been one of the production bottlenecks. They do have some sets for sale in the gear shop, but they probably receive them in multiples of 4 from the supplier/manufacturer and have to break sets to offer spares. Not that it's a bad thing to do so, but with supply constraints they have make choices. They have acknowledged the spare shortage and say it will be remedied s00n....

I know if I owned a Rivan at the moment, I would probably buy a set of 4 AT wheels to match what I'd have, keep one for my spare and sell the other 3. Wouldn't make any money at it, hopefully break even. Seems like a reasonable group effort or opportunity. But I know the new wheel/tire sets in the shop are severely constrained.

I just purchased 20's to replace my 21" this week. When I spoke with the service center about purchasing a spare they thought they could do it. However the response today was that "they are unable to secure the spare assembly through the service dept, and upper leadership informed them they should become available Q2 in the gear shop.

Take that for what it's worth. At a minimum we are 2-4 months out from seeing them in the gear shop.

I was able to buy a spare 20” dark wheel and kit a few weeks ago from the service center directly. I just asked if they could sell me one when I came in for a service appointment for a couple of small things.

Up until today it seemed promising. The service guide made it sound like he could sell me the spare even as far back as a few weeks ago. I wonder if it is dependant on their inventory vs having to order parts. I am a little bummed I couldn't pick one up, but also not surprised based on others experiences.

Interesting I had heard multiple times, even through my guide, it was supposed to be available in Q1. I believe the Q2 comment though, with how things have been going.

Yeah, being that we are already half way through Q1, Q2 looks more realistic, but also wouldn't be surprised if they missed that mark.

With summer coming and where I want to go with the truck I surely hope they are available earlier Q2 than not.

I’ve been hearing about this supposed spare availability in the gear shop since 9/22. “Coming soon”, “next month”. Each month come and goes and nothing appears.

I’m told it’s the tool kit they are constrained on and not the spare itself.

I even asked about buying just the spare by itself and I’ll source my own tools. I was told “no”. It’s everything or nothing due to liability concerns. That was a weird response but ok.
