Damn, that's crazy. If you have a local State Farm rep that you have a relationship with, they can sometimes be helpful as an intermediary--that's what I did when I had a problem trying to get reimbursement for the tint on the front windshield reimbursed (which I ultimately didn't go through with it since I traded my truck in anyhow). Good luck!
I completely forgot about my aftermarket tint on my windshield.. WIll have to mention that to my rep when they call me. Just got done with the email to my local rep.

They gave me a bit of a hard time about it--Safelite was supposed to mention that it was on the cracked windshield, but they didn't. I had to go back to the tint place and have them fab me up a receipt for it (I hadn't kept a copy as it was 2 yrs ago, and the tint shop didn't have it)... then have my local State Farm rep submit it to Lynx and vouch that it was there.

State Farm would've only reimbursed me upon having the tint replaced again, which I didn't do 'cuz of trade... so some extra hoops to jump thru

Thats my hope... waiting on my insurance company to tell me what the plan is..

The problem I have is that they (state farm) handle most of their glass claims thru a 3rd party vendor, Lynx Services. When I told them I was going to let the dealer do the repair, they said that is fine, but I would be responsible for the entire bill, and that State Farm would only reimburse me a certain covered limit.

Trying to get more info on this now, but this has been a bit frustrating, been working on this problem for over a month!
Rivian/the SC also tells you they don't deal with insurance and it's up to you to fight with your insurance company. I feared Safelite based on some past experience, but for this recent windshield repair it all seemed great. And like others mentioned they were super fast to get me in. They basically had availability 7 days a week. Rivian SCs here in SEA and BLV couldn't ever get their shit straight when I tried using them first. And now I'm glad I didn't.

Going back to Safelite this week to see if they can redo the install. While I initially thought it was ok recently while driving at highway speeds with the windows up I've noticed a ton of wind noise at the lower leading edge of the windshield. Sounds like having defrost on at high.

When comparing the overall fit to my wife's R1 still with its original windshield I can see it's not as tight against the A pillars and dash creating a sizable gap. Maybe just adding some foam to close the gap would address it? But, not sure where the air is coming from in the first place. Like is it coming from the outside in through some opening? I have no idea how things really look under the dash or area in front of the windshield under the black plastic trim by the wipers.

Anyway, I have to find a fix because it's wildly annoying to drive now on the highway. Even loud music won't cover it up.

Safelite reinstalled my windshield today. The tolerances/fit are much better now. No more finger wide gap on the passenger side A pillar or along the front edge of the dash. I *think* & hope the wind noise is gone now. It was a little hard to tell for sure on the drive home with the extra noise from the rain, wind, very wet road (and my AT 20s), and wipers going.

Which location did you go to? And did they use the same glass or install new? Both they and Rivian said they would not reuse the glass when I had issues.

Bellevue.

My understanding is the glass was replaced. This is from the pre-auth receipt.

I felt like a jerk for having them redo it all. But, I did pay for it and it needed to be done right. So I guess I shouldn't feel weird about it.

Thanks for posting this thread, @rutiger . My R1T had the windshield cracked earlier this week and I was looking to find any info on where to go to have it replaced and get the ADAS recalibrated. Our insurance (Amica) had a default referral for Safelite, which I wasn't crazy about after seeing reviews and this thread. I ended up scheduling an appointment with Novus Glass in Redmond after a referral from Amica and seeing their reviews. As for having the ADAS recalibrated, I found that AVSC in Redmond was listed on Rivian's approved collision centers for ADAS calibration. Both appointments were just a few days out. Fingers crossed for a good experience with both shops.
