why do my wipers do 1 sweep when i get in and put it in Drive?

Mine sometimes does that when the windshield is dirty. I think the sensor thinks there is rain. When I clean my windshield it never happens.

it’s practicing so it is ready when you need it.

You have it set to automatic. If you turn off the automatic mode, this won’t happen.

I want it on rain sensing...I just don't want it to single swipe a dry windshield.
It's a sensor or software issue for sure.

It’s a courtesy wipe. As said above, it happens if the sensor sees dirt or dust on your windshield.

Same issue here. I get a courtesy wipe on a dry windshield when in Auto. Then, auto doesn’t really work well at all. I’ve had torrential rain with no wiping.

That said, i haven’t driven in rain since the .38 update. I’m hoping it’s better though the courtesy wipe makes me think it still doesn’t work right.

I had a service ticket in and rivian called many times to follow up, though without rain I told them to close it and I’ll open a new ticket later.

I appreciate that level of service from Rivian.

Sorry, but no. Most cars that's true. Not for our Rivians. Feel free to reach out directly to them for confirmation.

yes manual does say dust..noted also rear wiper is supposed to sweep once in reverse also..ill have to watch for that
