Regardless of how one feels about the infotainment, which is infinitely better than anyone else other than Tesla, Carplay is not happening.
Regardless of how Rivian feels about CarPlay, there is no reason to not offer it as all these myths were the reason Rivian said they didn’t want to do it.

Rivian’s AI is already showing the earliest signs of this
Yes, they are showing what a complete failure it is so far.

Google Calendar integration without having AA.
Doesn't work for me, and others on this and other forums. Fail.

While I'm a very heavy AI agent user, it doesn't address the many things that CarPlay does. As just one of dozens of examples, some given above, my company phone system has a CarPlay interface and app. So I can easily manage work calls and messaging. That will never be an AI agent without a related app, and there will never be a Rivian app for this.

Based on your frustrations and your strong desire for CarPlay it seems the best solution would be for you to sell your Rivian and buy a vehicle that supports CarPlay. I doubt Rivian will support CarPlay in the near future or at all, regardless of how vocal the minority that wants CarPlay is.

Then quit your moaning and move on jeez!
Please quote the moaning and I'll do my best to correct it so that it's obvious I'm making simple statements of fact and not "moaning."

Data. Data. Data. Data. Too valuable to let it slip away when you are trying to catch up. That’s it. Plain and simple. From the horse’s mouth.
Honest, non-stir the pot question: why can't Rivian still collect data while CP/AA is running? I mean I understand they won't see any of your searches, but they still know where you've driven, stopped, etc..?

Then stop making simple facts or whatever else you want to call them and move on. CarPlay in a Rivian is not going to happen.

Sorry, I didn't realize you'd been made an admin and determiner of what is acceptable discussion here. Also, did you know that you can ignore discussions you object to and that obviously make you upset?

Back on topic; I just tried the CP in a brand new Honda and it's absolutely terrible. It may sorta take over most of it. And the entire implementation of everything internal and CP is shit. So that can be one reason people here who have never experienced a good one think it's not helpful.

I can only answer this for Apple, which is quite privacy-focused. With Android, you are the product, and have little privacy. Apple does not allow the carmakers to collect your data except for limited things and only after you say so. It will ask.

Understood, but Rivian software is still running concurrent (just not on the display) with CP/AA so they would still know your driving history, vehicle metrics and would still have all the sensor/camera data for training, etc.. at least that's how I imagine it works?

Right, there's a lot coming from the vehicle itself. I'm not sure what the carmakers want to know exactly, but it seems to be things like your actual searches. Because they want to sell ads and consumer data, and tell you where to go. You search for "hardware" and get told where to go instead of where you want to go. I'm very much out of tune with this marketing enshittification other than to simply see it everywhere you look.

Things that the car maker wouldn't see, off the top of my head...

Specific place. Are you going to the pizza joint or the vegan health food next to it? What do we try to sell you or how do we sell your data?

Apps you use.

Messaging habits.

Media you listen to (likely ultra valuable marketing data). It's notable that Nielsen offers people cash to load their media spying app.

I asked Perplexity Pro to generate a short executive summary:

Why automakers care about “keeping” data
Automakers have been moving away from CarPlay and Android Auto primarily because those platforms keep most of the infotainment usage data in Apple/Google’s ecosystem instead of the OEM’s. With native systems, the car maker can see what apps you use, what content you select, and how you interact with their UI, and then monetize or analyze that. With CarPlay, they still get telemetry and behavior data from the vehicle, but not your in‑app behavior on the phone screen.

Can the car maker read your messages, calls, or music usage in CarPlay?
Under normal CarPlay design, the car maker does not get raw content of your iMessages, WhatsApp chats, email, or app data from CarPlay sessions. Those stay in Apple’s ecosystem and on your iPhone, where Apple applies its privacy rules and app sandboxing. The car does know when you are in a call or using audio, because it routes audio and button presses, but not the content of the conversations or the detailed app logs.

Seriously, you need to sell your vehicle, it’s clearly causing you to be delusional. Thankfully there is a mute function so given you can’t move on I will. Best of luck in your crusade😂.
