Anyone else interested in a hard connection (USB cable) from their phone to the infotainment system? I’ve pinged Rivian about this several times via the unsolicited feedback option in the app (seems like something they should be able to enable with a software update via the USB-C ports in the center console) ... I’ve never been a huge fan of Bluetooth, as it has always seemed developers try to stretch it past its capability, and that’s been my experience with audio streaming in the truck. I get a lot of interference and distortion. I’m starting to think it’s my phone (not least because Rivian replaced the Bluetooth antenna in the truck and I’m still getting just as much distortion), but that’s not the only issue - the truck is very grabby with audio from the phone too. If I’m listening to my phone via headphones and open the truck door, the truck will grab the audio. Sometimes if I even go near the truck this’ll happen - mowing the lawn trying to listen to headphones with the truck parked out front is fraught. There are software options in the truck to disconnect from the phone, but they’re not ideal - tapping “disconnect” only works until you go near the truck again or open the door, and disconnecting entirely makes a longer process to reconnect when you do want audio routed through the truck. It seems like a USB connection to the phone would obviate all this hassle - connect when I want, not when I don’t - simple as plugging in.
Anyone else, or am I just fussy?

This has been a long time request since the R1T Gen 1 launch specially for usb music playback as source. Rivian has not or want to enable it yet, just low in priority.

Welcome to S.A.U.S.A.G.E. Support for Audio over USB System Antiquation Group Enthusiast. Please browse our many threads about the loss of USB audio and feel free to sign my petition. It's up to 115 signatures. I can feel Rivian corporate shaking in their boots from here. :)

They just don't seem too interested in streaming audio over USB from a phone/drive. Probably it might cut into some connect+ money if I had to guess, since a lot of people just use streaming service.

Oh, and the phone you use makes a difference. I have used several Android phones. My current one, a Samsung a15 has been the best with album art, connecting, app control, works with Chargie etc... But it also stays in the R1 and is just there to serve music over BT, so no issues with having to reconnect like you are having to deal with.

Not going to make a difference but I signed it. No money in it for Rivian so no priority for this.

I just signed the petition. It's good to be part of S.A.U.S.A.G.E. My bluetooth connection is pretty good, but the sound quality is not like the early days (pre-CONNECT +) when their Apple Music APP was free. The sound seemed much better, making better use of the Meridian system. No way I'm going to pay a subscription fee (Connect +) to use another subscription fee (Apple).
Keep the pressure on. As the R2 faces competition from BMW's iX3 and Volvo's EX60 (both of which offer much better range..... and CarPlay), maybe the competition will force them to offer us a choice of music source.

Yes, there's been interest from day 1, even before the first R1Ts shipped. Very little response from Rivian about this. They haven't said no, but they haven't said definitely yes either. The center console USB ports are the only ones that support data according to the manual, and I always assumed that meant they would add support for USB streaming eventually.

Note I don't see any valid argument *against* supporting this. Sure you can stream via bluetooth, at lower audio quality. Sure you can stream from apps on your phone or in the car, if you have cell phone reception. But if you're out of cell range, or if like me you have audio which is not on any streaming service?

Don't understand why usb audio can't be flipped on. I'd pay a one time fee at this point to get it. Would also, love access to the signals being sent to the speakers since I've installed aftermarket stuff. Would love to send a full sub signal to the sub as an example. Would pay a one time fee and sign a waiver and indemnity if any audio damage happens due my access to the signal. Give us access Rivian.
