Anyone else interested in a hard connection (USB cable) from their phone to the infotainment system? I’ve pinged Rivian about this several times via the unsolicited feedback option in the app (seems like something they should be able to enable with a software update via the USB-C ports in the center console) ... I’ve never been a huge fan of Bluetooth, as it has always seemed developers try to stretch it past its capability, and that’s been my experience with audio streaming in the truck. I get a lot of interference and distortion. I’m starting to think it’s my phone (not least because Rivian replaced the Bluetooth antenna in the truck and I’m still getting just as much distortion), but that’s not the only issue - the truck is very grabby with audio from the phone too. If I’m listening to my phone via headphones and open the truck door, the truck will grab the audio. Sometimes if I even go near the truck this’ll happen - mowing the lawn trying to listen to headphones with the truck parked out front is fraught. There are software options in the truck to disconnect from the phone, but they’re not ideal - tapping “disconnect” only works until you go near the truck again or open the door, and disconnecting entirely makes a longer process to reconnect when you do want audio routed through the truck. It seems like a USB connection to the phone would obviate all this hassle - connect when I want, not when I don’t - simple as plugging in.
Anyone else, or am I just fussy?
