Why not just give the option to turn off OPD? After all it is just another minimal tweak in the software.
I am a fan of Coasting. My OPD taste varies with the driving conditions. In congested traffic OPD is awesome and reduces stress of driving. In the twisties without any other occupants, it allows for more spirited driving without constant ankle twists. However, with other occupants spirited corner carving driving will increase the likelihood of motion sickness for the passengers. On the back roads and highways, I enjoy no OPD option where I can relax and coast without constant attention to the throttle. I can pump the 'gas' every now and then and let go to coast, find it to be more comfortable than constant application of pressure to dial in the right amount of throttle to not engage regen.
I also favor the use of blended braking regen + friction for the brake pedal instead of just braking. I can only assume this adds a lot of complexity to be able to tune it for smoothness, but other brands have pulled it off.
