I wish they offered factory pick up. I remember when my last car was ready, it took 2 weeks for them to truck it to my state. I would have gladly driven it.
I would love to pick up in Normal. I've asked CS several times and they say that they will only deliver currently.

Covid restrictions in IL are being loosened Monday. Might be time to get them thinking of factory pickup again.

I have been wondering the same thing, particularly with transportation issues.

I've heard that there may also be some tax issues with picking up in Illinois and the State trying to tax out of State people if it's picked up on the State of Illinois.

Hopefully they are ready to ship and not waiting for chips, circuit boards, tonneau cover parts, tailgate plastic, etc.!!!!

Thanks for this. They could do factory pick up for the other 42 states. This was discussed late last year and it was reported that there is already a building that can be used for pick ups. They could have an accessory shop and drive some additional revenue that way, as well as allowing the test track to be used. Lots of possibilities.

I saw an interview with RJ where he mentioned that they were in the delivery center. So it’s already in place. I would be more than happy to drive my trade in truck to Normal to pick up my R1T.

I would 100% fly back to IL to pick up the truck. Give me a chance to do some genealogy research in Wisconsin on the way back (as drive through Yellowstone and Glacier and maybe even up into Banff area) - heck of a road trip.

Great idea. I can’t think of a better way to start R1T ownership than picking it up where it was born, then heading out on a massive road trip. I would head west through Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana, into Washington, then south along the PCH and back through Reno and SLC and home to CO. Then I would need to eat ramen noodles for the next year to pay for it.

Wyoming would be tough as the charging infrastructure is almost nonexistent.

I picked up a M5 at BMW Welt in Munich and drove it around Germany and put 1600 miles on it in two weeks.
What a Blast!

Depending on how fast you wanted to go, I suppose you could car camp at RV parks and use the 50A service there to recharge? But, man, that'd be slow going.
