Hello! I wanted to provide an update on our legislative situation here in NC for those of us living in NC. Over the past several months I have been in contact with Representative Charles W. Miller (NC House District 19) and with representatives from Rivian. I have been reassured multiple times by people working for and with Rivian, that we will be able to purchase and have our Rivian's delivered to us, regardless of current laws in NC. With that said, the objective (this is my paraphrasing) is to get a law in place enabling Rivian to reach their stated goals as we have seen in other locations, such as the HUB in Venice, CA, and Showrooms/Service Centers that are starting to pop up. As of today, the NC legislation is still working through redistricting maps, thus making it difficult to get things moving as this is a big distraction for everyone currently. If you live in NC and would like to be put in contact with the representative for Rivian I've been corresponding with please let me know. As with anything, the more we show our interest and support for Rivian to those representing us the better.

I've emailed my local state representatives as I'm sure they're the roadblock much more than Rivian. I heard nothing back from either...

I have a preorder for a R1S and live in Raleigh, NC. I would be interested in getting in contact with the representative from Rivian because I would like to see Rivians in person here in NC.

Just an update on what I've learned with Rivian's progress in NC. On February 16th Rivian brought an R1T to Raleigh to meet with NC State House Represenatives, State Senators, and our Governor for them to see, touch and experience the R1T, but also to share who is Rivian. I was able to meet a few of Rivian's staff and left very encouraged. I've been following, watching, devoring all things Rivian since the LA Auto Show in 2018. The sentiment I was left with was, right now it's all hands deck to build and deliver R1's but they also have a lot of other things in the works...things like services centers, RAN network, etc. Other things that are essential to lauching, deliverying, servicings, other niceties will come later, but production ramp and delivering is #1 right now. I did give feedback from myself and many others as to Rivian's POOR Communications from or with Rivian. I got a SOOON response from one Rivian employee and we laughed, so I know they have heard it loud and clear. One comment I heard was someone at the top is very cautious and quiet in his approach and that great things are coming and or in progress behind the scenes as fast as they possible can, but they (Rivian) will not say much in advance. My take away was, the R1's will be worth the wait so stay patience.

Action steps for our NC Residents: Rivian has great people working on their behalf here in NC but as voters, make sure your voice is being heard. Call your representative and senator. It would also help if you can call or email John Bell ([email protected]) and Tim Moore ([email protected]) and let me know you are supporting Rivian.

Thank you all,

Eric

As an absurdly ignorant R1S reservation holder from Winston Salem, I'll contact my representatives. I'm also happy to contact John Bell and Tim Moore, but if you could help me understand their part in this, I'd appreciate it.

John Bell is Majority Leader in the House for NC and Tim Moore is the Speaker of the House so just by their role they will have influence over any bill coming to the floor. The Auto Dealer network is very powerful in NC, especially with the Democrats.
