22 minute wait to chat with a representative to request my refund. *waves from in line*
I cancelled mine a few months ago and the exchange was all through email and only took a day
I have unfortunately officially cancelled.

I’m not too concerned about a price increase. I could’ve tolerated a $4000-$5000 increase to be honest, but I’m up to $16K more and I’m end of 2023 holder.

My biggest issue there is another 24 months in between here and my delivery with war, inflation, global pandemic and another million other things that I’m sure will see another $5K-$10K bump for now a $100K-$110K R1S that was originally in the $70Ks.

Will most likely pick up a ā€˜23 Discovery or a new RRS. Model X is not an option for me. Any other comparable suggestions?
I cancelled my R1S reservation several months ago, so obviously unrelated to the price changes. I currently have a Range Rover Sport SVR and love it so much I knew I was going to be disappointed with the Rivian despite the huge advantages of an EV. So I decided to hang onto my SVR as it's only 3 years old and wait for the new Sport which will be revealed in April (supposedly). Rumor is that an all electric Sport will be launching in 2024 and it's not that far away really. If only LR can source some good motors from Bosch or BMW but I'm skeptical. I've had 3 range rovers and all have been awesome so I know I'll be happy with the new one. I really wanted to love Rivian and get the R1S as it was looking very special to me. But it's just a bit rough around the edges design wise and I really dislike how this company operates. I agree with everyone here who thinks they should have honored the pre-order price and only start charging the new prices with new orders.

For me there was no point in hanging on to see if they reverse the price increases. I doubt they will, but even if they do I don't want to be involved with this company.

I could excuse the delays. The communication issues were a tough pill to swallow. This was the last straw. Going to Ford, I can now get a Mach-E and an F150 lightning for the price of my R1S.

From a shareholder perspective I have to wonder if there isn't an SEC investigation and some lawsuits on the way. They had to know a price increase was coming (though maybe not how much of an increase) before IPO. They hid that to artificially increase the pre-order numbers.

From the business perspective I don't get it. With the investment in the huge GA plant they must be planning on announcing a much lower price vehicle or going to delivery vans only. No way can they sell enough vehicles at these prices to pay for that plant.

Probably would have been better to eat the $1.1 billion ($16k times 70,000 preorders), I think this could be the beginning of the end of Rivian.

Now this is new to me. Are there really people out there that would order a product soley because it costs more? That to me is mind-boggling ?
I kid you not, this is a thing…..

I am sorry for the earlier rant, I’m just very upset because I’ve been to several Rivian events, The 1st mile event, met senior leadership from the company, and met a lot of great people from this community, and my 4 year old son asks me when we’re going camping in ā€œdaddyā€˜s Rivianā€ every day, and I don’t know if we will anymore because daddy can’t afford it at this price point.

Honestly feel like crying, I’m sorry guys, I am crushed

This explains how they were going to deliver all the launch editions and adventure trims so quickly. Seems like it was planned since before IPO.
Ah the other explanation!

Rivian calculated delivery windows with a specific pre-order conversion ratio. When that ratio proved to be double what they expected, they increased prices to reduce the number of pre-orders, to maintain delivery windows!

RIvian has had a total lack of respect for me. First they're not fully honest about tank turn, then they keep pushing back the production date, now this price increase after I've already paid my deposit. On the plus side, this significant price increase made my decision easy- I'M OUT!

Hmmmm..... let's see:
1) Brand new company with cool idea gets thousands of passionate folks to put down deposits. Huge head start on the competition. Maybe another Tesla, but with an under-promise, over-deliver feel.
2) Delays and poor communication don't seem to quell initial enthusiasm, except for maybe "s00n".
3) Excitement and loads of pre-orders help IPO generate a market cap on order of GM and Ford.
4). And when it's finally time to deliver to real customers, Rivian jacks up the price 15-20%.

Clearly, Rivian underpriced these vehicles, but also has the cash to honor their quote to customers who already put down deposits. Who would trust them now? Seriously. Who would actually put down a deposit tomorrow with a company with no track record screwing over their early customers?

My delivery window opened today (Mar-Apr), and I'll give them to the end of April to correct this very bad business decision (although I'm not holding my breath).

Of course Rivian's bigger problem is their huge lead on the competition has shrunk dramatically and after what they did today, I'm putting my money on Ford, GM, Toyota, Stellantis, Kia, and all the other mainstream automakers.

I have been trying to log into my account to cancel and I can't get in. My R1S configuration went up almost $17k. Seriously, an upcharge for white paint??? i would have been fine with an increase in the car price but they added 12k just for the motor and battery pack. How did they not know?
