I might have but the psychology of how this was done is really bad. 7 to 8 k increase I could have mentally wrote off as money I'd get back from the government. 16k plus may be in line with actual worth of vehicle but have to factor in the disrespect the company has shown to its most vigorous supporters and that is a pretty big detractor.
I work in manufacturing, some of our cost of materials alone has gone up 15% from last year. Tooling, shipping, labor, everything has gone up. We are eating as much of the increase as we can, but we still had to jump our prices higher than we typically would in a year. That's going to translate to our customers having to do the same thing. I'm really not all that surprised by the increase.

One thing that bit us a long time ago is keeping prices at the same level for too long. Having to make a big jump is always going to make more noise with the customer than smaller periodic increases, even if you end up at a lower number from the big jump.

How they heck are they going to change the planet if the vehicle is only affordable to a very small portion of the population?
Yes, Rivian's great plan to address climate change:
  • Design one of the least efficient EVs priced so only the "1%'ers" can afford them
  • Manufacture them really slowly.
  • Find the most effective way to to piss off as many early adopters and advocates.
  • Over promise and under deliver.
  • Fool the press into praising your vehicles for their price/performance value and then raise the price as you begin selling them.

Many out here have been associated with Rivian much longer than most of newly hired RIVN employees themselves. Thousands were patiently waiting for many years, with blind faith, where people like me followed up on with RIVN news almost every day, regularly following up with their most minor progress, celebrate their success, remain positive, cheer up on vehicle sightings, brought into stock with massive faith, sharing RIVN details/progress with fam & friends regularly whilst defending them against all odds yada yada.

We all acted nothing short of loyal ambassadors for the company only to be greeted with such devastating news. For me price increase was not a very big problem per se, but the way it was done, it was plain brutal, very hurtful to say the least. Last 24 hours, Iam not even interested in RIVN news anymore for first time, a change after many many years which speaks volumes abt the distaste the brand has now left!

I am out!

Hey mods, or someone who knows how it works, can you create a poll to get everyone's input on if they are/have canceled their preorder, are thinking about it, holding on for now, or still staying strong and keeping their order.

Think it’s safe to say this guy has been a complete disaster:

From being called out by that fired sales lead, to disastrous communication by the company, to the huge price increase. He’s in charge of it all.
Agreed, unfortunately he made his fortunes.

I just configured a Land Rover Defender for more than an R1S I have, and want it 0% compared...

Yes timing & messaging off, value is not. I guess people need to make the decision that works best for them, but maybe take a few days.

Land Rover is an established company, with established dealers, established service and an established history. Rivian is not. Depends on how much faith someone has in a startup.

Completely agree. Unfortunately, he seems to have RJ's ear. His departure would go a long way on the long road to restoring my faith in any of Rivian's communications.

My LE is still going to be cheaper than the Hummer, or the Silverado RST. I will be surprised if I don't like the R1T better than the Hummer.

I have to wonder how many people would have not put in a preorder if they would have started with the pricing they are at now.
I would not have put a deposit down with the price increases. It was very competitive with Wranglers and new Bronco and is still a better product considering road manners vs offroad capability. But I'm no personally willing to spend more than $90K on a vehicle.

Same. I would not have put down a deposit at the current pricing. I wonder if someone at the SEC and/or some scummy class-action lawsuit lawyer will ask me the same question?
