BMW is better, even with the OOS Juniper video:

iX3 at 70mph: 3.8mi/kwh
Juniper at 70mph: 3.6mi/kwh. Screenshot attached from that video

You asked about mpge specifically at 70 mph, which is the math I did. Not sure why but that was the metric in question šŸ™ƒ

No sorry, still wrong.

BMW iX3:

385 miles / 109 kWh usable = 3.53 mi/kWh

Model Y AWD:

298 miles / 75 kWh usable = 3.97 mi/kWh
The IX3 wasn’t driven to empty. They stopped well short, and only drove 300 miles. I’m quoting the mi/kwh during those 300 miles.

And if you’re going to cite the OOS video, cite it properly without fudging with your own calculations

I disagree (and have 2 Teslas presently). Never cared for the MY look, everywhere I go I see ā€œbought this beforeā€¦ā€, MY and R2 aren’t even true competitors (Y is just a stretched out 3). With similar pricing, the R2 will absolutely outsell the Y 3 to 1, if they can scale production quickly.

Tesla really messed up with the CT, if they just made a basic SUV they would have done really well, instead Rivian has filled that gap.

Pricing isn't similar though. Model Y is much cheaper and has much more range at the lower levels. I think R2 will always be perceived as more premium and won't catch the sales of the Model Y anytime soon. Time will tell

I strongly disagree the R2 would outsell the Juniper by 3:1 even if Rivian production was there. Maybe 1:1 at best

Also, Tesla has the ability to cut prices by $3-4K if they felt they needed to.

I definitely don't see them on the same playing field, at all, it's like comparing the 4runner to the prius...nope

You’re right. They look different and possibly serve different needs. But I also think the market for ā€œrealā€ suvs isnt that big, and 95%+ R2’s will never touch dirt roads.

I think plenty are content with crossovers, and that ultimately, pricing is more important.

I think Tesla has a strong base among potential EV customers, and I don’t think the R2 is compelling enough to conquer Tesla customers in large numbers. But I could see 1:1 sales between the two brands.

Just block him, easier to go about your day. šŸ˜„
Ditto, already ignored you. Can’t block completely—wish I could. I’ve been here a long time to see the longer arc of Rivian playing out right now. Lots of people start out as fanboys, then realize Rivian comes up short

Good, because the R2 is a crossover. The MY is more of a hatchback. Both have inflated their classifications for marketing purposes.

But the R2 designed is more inspired by SUVs. Kind of like a bronco sport compared to an escape.

While I haven’t evaluated your entire body of work it appears you got lost or took a wrong turn, you won’t find much Tesla love here on a website with Rivian in the name.

I don’t love Tesla either. I’ll never buy another fascist mobile and I avoid superchargers. But, the MY’s numbers are the numbers.

I’m here because I own two Rivians currently and it’s informative to share my experience with others, and my learning from the community. But, after over three years with the Rivian brand, I’m not sure if I’m going to get another Rivian. There seems to be plenty of people who feel the same way, so I’m not an outlier.
