The Buzz was my next choice, but after the whiplash of the last 48 hours, I'm right back where I started.
I've read multiple times now that the Buzz might not be in the US until '24 now, so you could do what I plan on which is to get my R1T and probably sell it at or around cost when the Buzz is finally available.

I was seriously spending half the day (sorry project...) googling the Buzz and Polestars.
Genesis CV60, Fisker Ocean, you name it, I was going over it

Just noticed when I sign in, my vehicle preferences have changed, hoping it is just until I get my reinstatement notification.

I don’t know if I was too lazy or if I never lost faith but I didn’t cancel or change my reservation. Some people were saying to hold the line for 1 week and see if they reversed course. No way in hell I thought they would reverse course. Insane that they did but I’m glad. Blue R1S Adventure, here we come… in 2023.
Yeah same here. Figured I could hold out hope for a while in case this happened. Didn't think it would happen so soon (or at all TBH). Super glad now I reserved mine a while back though!!

I didnt cancel, but had full intention of doing that.. Now I dont have to.

My Wife is actually happy I dont have to cancel, she knew how much a new truck meant to me.

Just got it re-instated. They also did not need the 1K deposit back!
How did you do it? Did you get an email with a link?

I was the same. Was giving it a week or so. Also, think my wife is happy to not cancel. She knew what it meant for me and the kids. We actually talked about it last night that she was ok with the price because of how much it meant, but I said there was no way I would pay that much. At least now we basically get $12-20k instant equity when we do finally take delivery.

I still am a bit hesitant on what the service will be like after they have our $80k+. What will they do to promote customer loyalty if this is what they were willing to do before they had our money? What kind of tricks might they play with OTA updates, connected services, and associated fees?

Also, I am wondering if our previous configuration will be locked. I had intended on changing to Red Canyon (was actually doing it when I got the email, but stopped in my tracks). If I can't do that I am fine with my previous choice (Rivian Blue). I would also like to add the tow hooks, but I'm not going to be greedy. Seems to be a pretty easy add-on later (2 hooks, bolts, and filler panel) if you can get the parts. Was also waiting until closer to delivery to decide on 20 vs 21" wheels, but again I would be fine with my current choice (20" AT).

Need another option: who downgraded their config and aren't changing it back
Why would you do that? Based on the new pricing scheme, you would pay similar or perhaps a little more for a vehicle with less features and range.

Restoring to the original configuration would allow you to get the 4 motors loaded version at the same or lower price as the downgraded vehicle you currently have configured.

I'm not talking about major changes to the config such as motors or battery pack, but options.

Because after thinking about it and discussing it with my Guide, I realized that I don't really need a lot of the options that I had configured....such as: camp kitchen, upgraded wheels, underbody protection, etc. which is resulting in my spending less than I would have previously, which is directly resulting from their poor decision around pricing, which I think is a good datapoint to have.

Per the CS agent I spoke with today, for a couple hours! (he was a gear head, and we talked for along time about Volvo's of all things), they will not be locked, but as before, changes could change the timeline of when its produced.

My problem with the wheels, I think they are all ugly.. I am going with the free ones, and when I burn up the tires, I will consider buying a tire/wheel combo of something I like.

I didn't cancel my order but did reconfigure it. I much preferred mt old build. So I just spoke with Brenda at the Rivian chat and she was very helpful. However, she apparently did not have access to my original configuration. So we have to go back over my build and reconstruct it. It took 5 minutes and was relatively painless. Just be ready, if you go that route. They are SWAMPED today. I too would love to know what the conversation was at Rivian leadership about this "pull the band-aid off" approach to price hike approach. IMHO it would have been way better to gaslight us all and just gradually and incrementally raise the prices on all the different components. OR, go ahead an pull off the band-aid and "as a show of good faith we are going to offer everyone who plunked down a free accessory of their choice." Had they been a little more elegant about their approach they could have done what they needed and not caused so much consternation along the way. Still and all, I am very happy they did the right thing with a very speedy turn around. They bought a fair amount of loyalty with their remediation approach. Well done RJ.
