Forgive me in advance if this has already been asked. I'm curious on the different profiles that can be setup for the R2 and how this would impact the infotainment. I am assuming that driver profiles can be created to auto adjust things such as mirrors and seat ride, but would this also apply to the apps? The reason for my question, is my wife and I have very different curated apple music accounts, and my hope is that the R2 would be able to distinguish between who is driving (ex: identify driver by who is unlocking the car) and auto log into the respective accounts for said apps. Can anyone chime in on if this is something the R2 can do?

Here's what the manual says about Driver Profiles - It's clear that it will load the driver's last-used media app - which would imply to me it does what you want. Somebody actually WITH an R2 :p will have to confirm if it's able to recall and load the login specific to each driver profile.

I appreciate it! I completely overlooked the usual manual and finding a digital version (to be frank, it's been 15+ years since I've been in the market so this stuff is all new to me). I appreciate you pointing me here however! That is still helpful.

Haha! I definitely knew when I was posting that there'd be some possible snark/jokes coming my way. I'm sure it could almost seem like a troll post, but I promise it's not.

Curious about this myself, for those that have taken delivery or on R1 for that matter, how hard is it to switch apple music profiles? When I am driving alone, i have my playlists, but when the husband is in the car he controls the music so will need to be able to switch to his profile.

I am not sure I would call it an infotainment profile, but the R1 does make a change with the infotainment depending upon who is driving. When My wife and I change drivers, on a long drive, what we were listening to does change. But never paid much attention to details. Also, I believe the R1 only allows for 1 login to an app. We use Spotify, not apple music. I don't know if R1 supports a second login based upon driver (it would require logging out and back in). Maybe someone else can clarify. Anyhow, in these regards, I expect the R2 is same as R1.

c'mon...most of us don't have possession of an R2 yet. how could we *possibly* have access to the manual, which would most definitely be located in one of those 2 glove boxes, right?

I've got to get used to utilizing 2026 technology on vehicles. I decided to try Rivian's AI and received the following message.

"Q:
I have a question on driver profiles and how this impacts apps. If I am driver 1 - and sign into my own profile to a music streaming service and driver 2 loads their profile, will they be able to sign into their own log in for streaming service? Or does it utilize driver one's profile still?

A:
that's a thoughtful question. Right now, Rivian is working on expanding driver profiles so that more settings—including audio streaming logins—are tied to each individual profile. At the moment, if Driver 1 signs into a music streaming app, that login may remain active when Driver 2 loads their profile, meaning Driver 2 could see Driver 1's account.

Later this year, Rivian plans to update the system so each driver can have their own logins for streaming services, map preferences, and even vent positions. For now, if you want to keep accounts separate, you may need to manually sign out and sign in when switching drivers.

If you'd like more details on how profiles work or want to know when these updates roll out, just let me know."

The bold basically answers the question that I had, though I welcome someone to add more context if this is not the case. It's not the end of the world, but, does raise a slight wrinkle as our current setup through apple music is tied to our own devices, so sharing a music streaming app will be a slight annoyance.

In my R1S the music is specific to the drivers settings. Downside to this is if one person has a Apple Music paid subscription and the other doesn’t then some features disappear

This is interesting, b/c it highlights the experience I was hoping would happen (ex: driver specific profiles have their own independent logins for streaming apps), but Rivian AI completely contradicted it. That said, I'll take real world data each day of the week, so thank you for confirming! Hoping the R2 is similar.

In my R1T, the music is specific to the drivers profile. However, we often listen to audio books when on roadtrips that are on my partners' iPhone. We've learned that you can switch phones for Bluetooth Audio by touching the Bluetooth icon in the center screen menu bar. It's pretty easy that way.

In both the R2 and R1 you have to log into any of the streaming services that require logins under each profile.

You can use the same credentials if you have accounts you share or your individual accounts if they are separate.

It would be nice if they had a way to allow one account to be shared if you preferred. An example, if you go on a trip with someone and provide them a profile so they can setup their driver settings, you will need to login to any of the streaming services as well for their profile. It is a small thing but certainly would be nice if the owner had a check box so their credentials could shared across profiles.
