Additional info on Demo Drives. I contacted Customer Support via chat last Friday and asked about them in the Denver area. The rep said she didn't know, but would find out and would email me. Today I got a response saying that they weren't coming out to Golden, but if I was willing to drive to the Service Center I could do 10:45 this Fri. Was gonna ski, but this is more important so I jumped on it.

I also asked about when the Ocean Coast and Forest Edge interiors were going to start delivery, but she said she didn't know. She also didn't know when my Guide would reach out to me (I put down my deposit in late June 2019. I'm supposedly slated for March/April delivery, so it should be s00n.
That’s interesting. So for all of you who’ve been waiting for a call from Rivian to set up a drive, maybe proactively call them and see if they will let you schedule something at the service center!

Enjoy your drive, kneebuster. Thanks for the pics and info!

Lol!! Not sure which “Drive” I will like better, Elway’s in Cleveland or Rivian’s.

That’s awesome! Nice pics from the service center.

I’m also extremely confused here. I’ve reached out to CS 2-3 times (including last Friday!) and they just tell me to keep waiting for a test drive invite. I guess I’ll reach out to CS again.

I’ve reached out to CS asking for a test drive in Denver, including last Friday, pointing out that I’m 20 miles away; she said she’d try to help, but no feedback since.

Same here. Asked them multiple times but keep getting the same reply ‘Will let you know when we’re in your area’.

All had Black Mountain interiors, except the Launch Green Mobile Service Vehicle that had Forest Edge.
Whoa! So the FE interior truck is likely to stick around for awhile? I have FG/FE in my config, but really want to see the FE to see if I actually like it.

Thanks for sharing those great pics and glad you got a test drive scheduled. I was wondering how the CS folks reacted to you dropping by and checking out the cars? I live a few miles from there and drove by when they first completed the building and started operating. Wasn't sure if they were cool if we dropped by to look at the colors in person and check out the vehicles on the lot. I have a ways to go in terms of delivery (Oct/Dec 2022) but if I have to lock in on a color choice once they revert back to original configuration, I'd really like to see some of the colors in person for both exterior and interior.

I've had no issues whenever I stop by (which is every few weeks or so). Usually don't bump into anyone and they don't seem to mind me looking at the trucks parked outside. They seem to be used to people stopping by and looking at the employee's trucks that are plugged in close to the building. They are a bit more protective of the customer trucks that they're getting ready for delivery, which is fine by me.

Occasionally there have been employees outside who've asked if I need help with anything. I've never been asked to leave...yet.

You can swing by without fear, but there's currently no way to sit inside any of the vehicles unless you are one of the lucky few to get a test drive scheduled.

I had my test drive this morning despite the snow. Started at 9 and went for about an hour. I live right off I-70 and Youngfield and had the chance to drive down 36 to Golden and up I-70 towards Evergreen.
Some of my key takeaways:
  • UI and especially navigation/map looked way better then I expected
  • I have a R1S reservation - there is a lot more room in the R1T then I expected especially in the backseat as well.
  • I am 6'7 and I had a ton of headroom even without moving the seat all the way down. There is also ample legroom for someone my size and the seats are really comfortable. Only drawback for me is that you can move the headrests up.
  • Steering wheel offers a wide range of adjustment and I like that it's small and flat at the bottom. Really like the amount of feedback the steering wheel gives. The responsiveness is closer to a Porsche than to a Pick-up.
  • The interior quality exceeded my expectations and the black mountain interior looks really good especially with the alcantara-like headliner that is more graphite than black.
  • Driving on snow was like driving on rails. The 20s have a ton of grip and the car feels in control at all times in all-purpose mode. I tried to push the backend a little in turns and only got it to break out once, but the car got grip super fast.
  • Had to be a little careful with acceleration due to the road conditions and not being able to switch to sport mode due to it, but nonetheless this thing is faster and more planted than my Cayenne GTS ever was and could have easily kept up with my 911 as well.
  • The acceleration from 30 to XXX...something that would make a state trooper not happy is super smooth and soooo fast and regen is very easy to control.
  • I've never been a truck fan, but I honestly forgot I was driving one within the first 3 minutes of the drive.
  • The glass roof has plenty of tinting and I really like that there is a good amount of separation between the windshield and the glass roof to protect the driver from the sun above.
I was a huge fan before...now I simply can't wait to have the R1S in my garage. My wife doesn't like big SUVs, but I am afraid that she will like the R1S a little too much and I will end up too often in our other car.

I reached out a few times to CS and finally got the right person on the chat and they just booked me in for the next day. Keep trying...it's so worth it.
