I didn't go with the Rivian charger because we have two and I wanted them to be in a load sharing configuration.
Can you tell us more about "load sharing confiuration"? I'm only in need of 1 charger now - but I can imagine a need for 2 down the road. If I have the electrical work done I'd like to be planning ahead.

Congrats by the way. We'll have to have a Seattle area meet-up this summer :)

We've owned it for 10 years and took a whopping $3000 in depreciation on the sale.
I'm surprised you didn't have an appreciation in cost. We traded in our FJ after moving out here (about 10 years ago), and the resale costs have gone up since then.

Question regarding the trade in… did you get a good deal compared to what Carvana or Carmax would of offered you?

Yes, above trade-in range for KBB and well above a Carvana quote. Manual FJs are pretty rare though, so your experience may vary.

This prompted me to put together a whole write up over here. Take a look and let me know if that answers your questions.

Looks like someone in the Seattle area (east side) is going to get a new White R1T today (just spotted White R1T on flatbed followed by 'return' R1T on I-405S headed towards Renton):

Rivian R1T R1S Another Delivery in Seattle! R1T Delivery

I'm starting to wonder (believe?) if there aren't a LOT more vehicles being delivered than we know about here from our community. For a month or so now, I feel like I've been seeing R1T's more frequently. Which is either stupid luck or my sighting incidence is increasing with the total # on the road increasing. I know most here believe the customer deliveries just started, but I've seen 2 different R1T's in my local neighborhood in February.

Judging by the number of lines in their notary book yesterday, I'd guess we only know about 5-10% of them here.

Thanks for that write up @timesinks. Very impressive. But I still don't know if I understanding what is meant by "load sharing"? Can you explain that?

Both EVSEs are on the same 60A circuit and share the same 48A cap. They actively communicate with each other. If both are being used, they'll either prioritize one vehicle or they'll split the 48A evenly. Once one vehicle is fully charged or unplugged, any capacity it was using can shift to the other.

Basically it's magic.

Forum members are surely a small minority of purchasers. But the fact that deliveries started in a wave for us, as opposed to a trickle, and the fact that we are seeing large numbers of truckload sightings this week, indicates they really hadn’t started for anyone until this week.

Not here in WA. My truck was only the 3rd external delivery in the state and the first for my delivery person. Most of those entries are probably from employees.

I have an older JB40 and have been planning to just switch the vehicles every so often (once I finally get my R1S) or eventually just install another circuit. When I installed the first one I had a subpanel installed into the garage so I think I have the headroom to do that. But if I didn't have the capacity for another circuit, or just to make it cheaper/easier, I could purchase another JB and use this load sharing option. Very cool to know this is available. Thanks for sharing!

Might check if you can use a USB keyboard to type the missing character.

But it could also be a character escaping bug. Quote marks in user input are a classic (and therefore embarrassing) cause of bugs.
Pulling this from the Rivian Blue thread over to the main one. Great idea!

Plugged in a USB keyboard. The autocorrect was still pretty insistent on making the single quote directional, but after typing the next character, moving the cursor back, deleting, typing... suffice to say, there was a workaround!

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think I ever would have thought to plug a keyboard into my car's head unit ?

But the pop-up keyboard only offers an opening quote shaped apostrophe.
Out of curiosity, if you long-press on the quote key in the keyboard view, will it present additional quote options to you?
