Kind of a weird question. But about how big is the floor in the backseat in a usable manner? Do you think a 40 lb dog could hang out down there?

Is there an option to leave the car unlocked at certain locations (at home in the garage) but automatically lock everywhere else? Before Tesla added this feature I was very frequently annoyed when I needed to get something out of the car and didn't remember to bring my phone.

How long does it take the truck to become responsive to app commands when you've been away for a while?

1. What do you think of the sound system?

2. Is the road/wind noise low at 70mph or average?

3. How's your experience with the UI having no hard buttons or dials?

4. Are the interior door handles annoying to pull (weird angle)?

5. What kind of attention are you getting on the road and in lots?

6. Are you happy with the ext. color, int. color, and wheels you chose?

7. Where do you put the groceries? Frunk? Back seat? Gtunnel?

8. If you put something heavy in the bed, is it extra hard to slide it in and
slide it out, given the gooseneck liftgate creating extra distance?

9. What do you think of the power tonneau?

10. Do you feel any cold drifting down on your neck from the roof glass?

11. Do the power windows roll all the down on a one-touch, and all the way up on a one-touch, or do you have to hold the switch the whole time?

12. How fast does the vent heat warm up? In my ICE I have to wait for the engine to warm up.

13. What's your preferred ride height and ride stiffness?

14. When you park does the truck lower the suspension to make it easier to get in and out?

15. What surprises you as being extraordinarily thoughtful -- some element of the experience that just makes you happy and grateful?

16. What is profoundly annoying about the vehicle where you can't believe *this* made it all the way into the production vehicle?

17. What have you done to push the boundaries on the truck? Has it performed well?

18. What do you wish the truck had, but doesn't?

19. How's the acceleration at, say, 65 mph, when you need a burst of speed to get around a yahoo? Is there a delay?

20. How do you find one-pedal driving? What level of regen do you prefer?

THANKYOU!
Here we go...
1. It's the best one I've ever had, but the competition isn't strong. Better than the Boston Acoustics from my Camaro, and the JBL Synthesis from my Toyota. But I'm not an audiophile.

2. Just below average I'd say. Acoustic glass helps.

3. Really, much better than I thought. VERY responsive.

4. A little. But you get used to it quickly.

5. CONSTANT. Seriously. I was not ready for it. People literally blocking my exit to talk to me... Get ready now...

6. Oh yes...

7. Frunk is easiest for me at 6'1"

8. Haven't done that yet.

9. Neat. Loud, but neat.

10. Ambient cold comes in pretty quick. Not from above, but all over.

11. One touch up and down for all 4. Of note, they are SIGNIFICANTLY slower when doing one-touch vice just holding the switch for some reason.

12. Very fast. But you have to make sure you enable the heat/cool mode, or it's just vent.

13. Standard, Soft.

14. No.

15. Not a surprise, but the Gear Guard animation is sooo awesome!

16. Nothing yet, but I'm looking...

17. A TON of 0-60s... There have been more than one request to NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!! But more requests for AGAINAGAINAGAINAGAIN!!!!!!

18. SMS integration.

19. 0.

20. LOVE IT! Max regen for me.

No.

The truck is ready before you can get in.

I mean when you are far away from the truck(and have been for a while) and use the app to remotely turn on the AC or unlock the doors. Does the the truck respond immediately or does it take it a while receive the signal?

On a Tesla, if the car has gone to sleep, the internet connection is disabled to conserve power and it only wakes up to check the internet for new commands from the app every few minutes. It is annoying, I frequently find that it is quicker to just go out to the garage and reach in to press the AC on button than to activate the AC via the app when I want to pre-heat/cool the car.

How many seconds does it take to get it in drive and moving? Does it differ from unplugged vs plugged in? I'm a firefighter/EMS volunteer and time to leave the house is very important. Hoping there isn't a long bootup sequence.
I wouldn't describe it as booting up. If you're plugged in, maybe 5 seconds (more if you're fussy with the cable getting back on the spool like me, less if you want to just drop the connector and deal with it later). Open door, butt in seat, close door, foot on brake, drive stalk down, go pedal. Seat belt somewhere in there, but that's it. The computer is always on, so it's waiting for you.

So when you walk up to the truck using phone as a key, do you have to put your phone up to the door handle or does it detect it and unlock (once screen is on)?
In my rear pocket is fine.

We are on different software builds, but my phone as a key works flawlessly... I think it was one of the things that was improved.
?

[literally 20 questions]

THANKYOU!
Wow, don't hold back! ?

What do you think of the sound system?
I am not an audiophile, but it sounds amazing as loud as I can stand turning it up (and it goes much higher).

Is the road/wind noise low at 70mph or average?
Considering our speed limit is 60mph in the area, I wouldn't know. But if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that it's quite quiet in the cabin up to about 80mph, and so far, I wouldn't be able to guess much beyond that.

How's your experience with the UI having no hard buttons or dials?
Better than your skepticism might suggest but still not amazing. The hard dials on the steering wheel that are adaptable to function are good (once you learn what they do in any given situation). I wish all of the slider type controls on the screen (e.g., volume, brightness) had increment step controls on the ends. Sliders are hard to get just right in a moving, bobbing vehicle. Everything else is pretty good about it though.

Are the interior door handles annoying to pull (weird angle)?
Yes, though I find the location unintuitive and therefore more annoying than the angle itself (though that is a tad weird too). I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it's definitely taking some adjustment.

What kind of attention are you getting on the road and in lots?
Some, but honestly not as much as I was expecting for how highly I was anticipating the vehicle. I did notice someone drive up alongside us last night who was definitely recording us. And a few heads have definitely turned.

Are you happy with the ext. color, int. color, and wheels you chose?
Yes. I discussed Rivian Blue a little in the Rivian Blue Club thread starting with my delivery report that got cross-posted here. I'll have to borrow the interior close ups my husband has been posting in r/rivian for a post here. But yes, happy as can be.

Where do you put the groceries? Frunk? Back seat? Gtunnel?
Haven't actually gone grocery shopping yet, but we did stash our bags in the frunk. I suspect that will probably be where they go.

If you put something heavy in the bed, is it extra hard to slide it in and slide it out, given the gooseneck liftgate creating extra distance?
The most awkward thing I've tested so far was our ARB fridge. There's a little extra distance but I'm not sure it'll make that big of a difference. It's definitely built for adventure with some work capabilities rather than the other way around. This might be a better thing to ask again in a month or two.

What do you think of the power tonneau?
Cautiously optimistic but not love at first sight. It definitely makes a lot of clunks and commotion in operation. If it ever manages to fail on me in the worst possible moment, I will hate it and never forgive it.

Do you feel any cold drifting down on your neck from the roof glass?
No, but I'm also the nut who has been using the ventilated seats all week.

Do the power windows roll all the down on a one-touch, and all the way up on a one-touch, or do you have to hold the switch the whole time?
Typical auto controls w/ half press for incremental and full press for all the way.

How fast does the vent heat warm up? In my ICE I have to wait for the engine to warm up.
Have not timed but should be a lot faster. The heat gets produced immediately and isn't being sunk into warming the engine mass. You can also pre-condition from the phone before you get in. And seat heat works quickly too.

What's your preferred ride height and ride stiffness?
Depends on what we're doing but the all purpose default is great for day to day type driving.

When you park does the truck lower the suspension to make it easier to get in and out?
I don't think so. I suspect a kneel mode will come eventually, but for now, if you say put the height at max to get some underside photos, it's a big step down.

What surprises you as being extraordinarily thoughtful -- some element of the experience that just makes you happy and grateful?
The obvious attention to so many of the small details. The frunk is really deep, so there's a fold up shelf since you don't need the depth all the time and it makes it easier to reach stuff in day-to-day use. There are two pass through holes for charging cables under the console lid for the two usb-c ports in there. Still obviously in the honeymoon phase, but there are just so many little details that are done right in the R1T that are points of friction in other vehicles.

What is profoundly annoying about the vehicle where you can't believe *this* made it all the way into the production vehicle?
The change to the frunk shape so you can't actually fit a normal cooler in there. The doors (gear tunnel and passenger) I feel like I'm always only half closing and having to reopen and swing them harder. Lack of CarPlay (yeah, ok, the current play list shows up over bluetooth, but I can't switch to a different one or switch to a different app or listen/respond to texts or check my route in a different mapping app) which means I'm going to have to figure out where the phone gets mounted. And there's no obvious place for that.

What have you done to push the boundaries on the truck? Has it performed well?
Have not had the chance quite yet. And I'm guessing the truck will be pushing my boundaries a lot sooner than I'll be pushing its boundaries.

What do you wish the truck had, but doesn't?
CarPlay

How's the acceleration at, say, 65 mph, when you need a burst of speed to get around a yahoo? Is there a delay?
It's zippy and responsive.

How do you find one-pedal driving? What level of regen do you prefer?
Love it. High regen all the way. I like regen mode in the ID.4 (and the Volt before it), but both are challenging to adjust speed without some lurching. The Rivian is much less susceptible to this, probably in large part due to the quality of the suspension. It's very natural to let up to accel less quickly or gently decel and not prone to lurching when you do. The speed changes in Driver+ are much more natural than the ID.4's Driver Assist too.

No, no geofence conditioned behavior like that so far.

Thank you for your time.

1. How are the driver assist features on local roads?

2. Have you tried fitting any car seats in the back? What configurations do you think would work back there with 3 kids?

3. Are the side windows factory tinted?

4. Are the factory mats rugged enough and cover sufficiently or are all-weather liners ie weathertech suggested?

5. What does the interior smell like? :)

Thank you! So excited for all of you!

Curious about how you make/receive phone calls, texts, and how Alexa works in general.

Thanks!

I figured since there are a few new owners in here, we may want a place where you can ask your questions about the R1T directly to owners. I'm sure @timesinks, @JDMD, and soon @bowhunter and I would be happy to answer what we can! Also, it may be easier to read this thread if we stick to questions about current features vice discussion or debate about future features.

2. Just one booster. Sorry.

3. Yes.

4. I ordered the all - weather but the stock should be fine.

5. Really good ;). The spare tire? Not so much...
