At this point, I highly regret cancelling my very early Lightning order. My dealer only let one VIP ahead of reservation holders. That made me #4 in line over there. I would probably be waiting for my truck to be build if I had kept waiting.

I still want an R1T but the production delays are likely to force me into another ICE vehicle. ?

Is the Lightening supposed to be less efficient than the Rivian? I would be surprised if they weren't similar.

Have you drove the Rivian? Obviously can’t compare to the lightning, but compared to an F150 it isn’t even close. The handling, smooth ride, etc is incredible. It’s like comparing a Ford Explorer to Range Rover.

Second reason why it isn’t a competition: with the Rivian you’re getting the first year or two of depreciation for free due to the extreme discount.
Lightning is getting a free couple years of depreciation too. It's very limited quantity and you can't order one anymore. If I get my Lightning in June and decide next year I still want the Rivian, I'll be able to sell it for more than I bought it for.

Lightning has a 131 kWh battery and it's supposed to get 300 miles of range. So it would need to be slightly more efficient than the R1T to achieve that.

I get your point, but aftermarket appreciation / speculation due to short term supply constraints isn’t quite the same as purchasing a vehicle 20-25% below MSRP.
