Wrong answers only;
They are clearly laser range finders to detect potholes and initiate suspension travel. In high power mode they also blast rocks and debris out of the wheels path. They are not yet active because they have proven problematic around pets.

Sticking with the Star Wars theme....
I'd settle for Laser Blasters.... "So you don't want to get out of the passing lane.... pew-pew...."

*full disclosure - at Disneyland now... so doing my full Star Wars geek out..... of course can't tell my family I would love to take a ride over to the Venice Hub... too bad that won't happen this trip.

I have a question about the number of climate control zones. In the 20220228 owner’s manual, it shows this on page 49 which seems to indicate 2 zones:
AA3B35E8-0275-42FD-859A-2C8C1FDE9ECC.webp

With the current 2022.7 update, when you use the rear climate control display does it act as a third zone controlling the entire 2nd row or when you make adjustments on the rear display does it also affect the front row?

I suspect the manual needs to be updated and there are 3 zones but I figured someone with a truck could do a quick test of adjusting things from the second row and see if the driver and front passenger stay as-is (3 zones) or changes are made up front, too (2 zones). Thanks!
Things may have changed... But previously Rivian said there was 4 zone climate control. I expect each outboard seat should have its own zone.

It should, but then there’s the 3rd row in the R1S. Hopefully the 3rd row matches the 2nd row by side. This gives us 4 zones in an R1S with 1) front driver, 2) front passenger, 3) 2nd+3rd row driver side, 4) 2nd+3rd row passenger side.

I’m only asking because my perspective was influenced by looking at the new Land Rover Defender. On the Defender the 2nd row climate panel has controls for driver side and passenger side, but adjusting one adjusts the other and also adjusts the 3rd row, if equipped. So it looks like 4 zones based upon the controls but in reality it is 3 zones. Our LR3 has 3 zones which is generally fine but we had a Jaguar Super V8 with 4 true zones and that was really decadent, especially in 2005.

Sorry for the confusion, all. I meant to be asking the new owners about the 8-step program on behalf of those I tagged.

And another thing, I stand by using Program and not Process. Rivian's got us addicted!
The same day I got the PBA the Truck icon, Purchase Summary and Steps showed up on my account page. Before the PBA was signed I could only access the first two steps.

For those who have purchased or started the 8 steps, how has the financing process worked? If you went through Rivian, did you get approval right away or need to wait?

Can the gear guard cable still be used with the tonneau closed?

Photon Torpedo launchers to intercept incoming rocks and bugs before they hit the grill and the windshield.

Also for blowing up vehicles in your way when you put the truck into its Road Rage drive mode.

Im sure it can provided your locking stuff inside the bed, otherwise anything outside of it, wouldn't work.

I should have explained more. I was wondering if it was possible to have the tonneau closed protecting whatever was in the bed, then wondered if there was a channel or something similar that would allow the chain to be plugged in but threaded through and exposed so that say a mountain bike on the rack could be chained too.

No, but the cover can be stopped in a partially open state.

Tesla Model S owner here, launch edition reservation holder supposedly getting my R1T April/May timeframe based on the e-mail from several months ago.

The Tesla nav system is not the best. You can't put in intermediate stops nor does it seem to recalculate the route for supercharger stops if your energy use is better/worse than anticipated. System seems to figure a route and then that's the route you use unless you cancel the route and have it recalculate.

Is the Rivian nav system any better? Can you put in intermediate stops? Does it dynamically calculate charging stops if you're energy use is better/worse than anticipated?
Really wishing I could just get Google Maps up on the big screen. Do Rivian and Tesla really think they can beat Google at mapping and navigation?
