This is my conclusion also FWIW
Ditto! Not going to be arm twisted into getting something I really didn't want. I am holding out for OC as Rivian will definitely find buyers for those excess BM interiors as many don't really have a strong preference, especially if can take delivery sooner.

Totally agree it's just a function of batching vs. matching configurations. I just posted a lengthy thought over on the OC/ FE delayed? thread and basically said what you said except mine was way wordy-er.

Finished with my Guide:
Short and sweet. Presented me with two options…

1. I can take delivery next week if I switch to Black Mountain
2. Take delivery in May (maybe earlier) if I keep Ocean Coast

He told me to take my time to decide and shoot him a text whenever.

I’m likely going to wait till May for OC…
I'm genuinely happy for you, and stoked you could have delivery as early as next week. Also great to know that OC isn't too far away.

So don't take my next comments as anything but genuine curiosity mixed with a touch of jealousy.

But, I honestly don't get the randomness of how they are setting deliveries. My order was placed many many months before yours. I was told my delivery would be April at the latest. I live minutes from a service center processing tons of deliveries already. I have the most common and readily available build.

And I got nothing. No contact. No guide. No fixed pricing. No locked configuration. Didn't even get invited to a test drive until I begged multiple CS people.

Its just so odd, and a bit disappointing if I'm honest.

Oh well. Maybe next week will be my week!

I completely understand your frustration here, and if I’m honest, I’m equally as surprised by the outreach from them, too.

There seems to be no discernible pattern to their delivery approach, and even guide outreach for that matter.

I reached out to CS last week to ask when I would be assigned a guide for my upcoming May/June delivery window, to which they said “closer to your delivery window”. Fast forward a week and I have been assigned one, well ahead of my anticipated time.

My best suggestion (if you haven’t already) is to reach out and specially ask for when your guide will be assigned. This may trigger them to put you in a queue for guide assignment. Then again, it may not - just a friendly suggestion :)

I hope you get some good news ASAP!

My theory - again just personal conjecture - may be that Black Mountain is the most popular order so they chose to prioritize this first to meet the largest batch of orders. With the March 1st pricing and cancelled orders, they may be left with an overstock of Black Mountain built trucks already off the factory line and are calling upcoming orders to see if they’d like to take ‘early delivery’ by switching to BM, thus leaving OC and FE interiors still on track or even sooner.
Tie this in with service centers that are up and running. They probably shipped batches to the service centers and then just go down the list of customers in the area that match the configurations they have at the service centers.

With the end goal being: deliver as many vehicles by 3/31 as possible to prop up 22Q1 deliveries. My guess is when 4/1 hits things will slow back down and they may start doing OC/FE batches. But with the delays early in the quarter they probably want to show meaningful progress to support their 25k in 22 number.

I don't know your build but I have gotten to think they are going to get it to you in June. It is just bad PR to be keeping you hanging out there.
Yeah, but Launch orders get first dibs... We'll see.

I think they're pushing for as many Launch delivers before June and after that, the option (paint/interior) delays will not be as much of an issue (1 month delay).

But then they'll have to content with the overwhelming R1S orders. Who knows?... I was EL Cap with Black Mountain interior, BLK 22"

Dann, that's crazy fast and way ahead of May/June which I assume you were since you posted in this thread. I just got contacted (call is next Week) so not sure what to expect on timing. I did notice that my config is now locked.

What was your pre-order date?

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone posting information on this forum, especially what to expect for the May/June delivery window folks. It has been really helpful seeing everyone's experiences from around the country. I flew out to San Francisco in January 2020 to attend the Mill Valley event to see the vehicles in person, but I have not had a chance for a test drive. I have stated in a chat with Rivian that I would be willing to travel to a close by event for a test drive, but haven't received an invitation. There was recent test drive event in Atlanta I would have definitely gone to, but from what I've read, there are folks that live in Georgia that didn't even receive an invitation.

After the price increase (my order went to ~$94K, but the pricing has now been corrected as of 3/18), I was scrambling to see where I was on my Ford Lightning pre-order. I had a very early pre-order number, but it was up to the dealerships around me for the number of allocations they were getting. I prefer the R1T for its uniqueness and size, but I was open to take the first available vehicle.

I was happy to receive an unexpected email from my assigned Rivian Guide yesterday 3/18 who reached out for an invitation to setup a call to discuss my R1T preorder (Monday 3/21 evening). My pre-order has been locked for modification so I have to contact my guide for any changes. I believe I'm good with all of my current choices, but I really want to see the Limestone paint in person so I can make a solid decision on Rivian Blue or Limestone.

Location: Florida
Launch Edition R1T Preorder Date: November 2019
Specs: Rivian Blue | Ocean Coast | 22" Sport Bright
Options: Full-Size Spare | All-Weather Floor Mats | Gear Tunnel Shuttle | Cargo Crossbars | Bike Mounts | Wall Charger

The current questions I'll have for my guide will be:

- What's the expected delivery timeframe now that contact has been made?
- Will I have a chance to see different colors in person before I solidify my build choices?
- How much time do I have to make my changes before it's locked for submission to production?
- How much time do I have to look around for different loan options?
- Will a VIN # be available so I can get quotes for insurance? I doubt this will be available, but I might as well ask.
- When will the subcontractor reach out about install for the Wall Charger and how much will it cost? If I chose to have a different company install it, when will I receive the Wall Charger?
- Does the R1T have the ability (hardware) to charge your home due to a power outage? I have asked in a chat and it was confirmed that only a software update was needed, but I'm not confident that's the correct answer. Otherwise, I believe that would be a great feature to advertise since other vehicles have that ability.
- When will I find out what to expect for my trade in value for my current vehicle (2017 GTI Sport).
- Can the Bike Mounts be used for the bed as well because they are called "Rooftop Bike Mounts"?
- Can I add addition accessories at the pre-March prices? From the email that received ("Rivian accessories will be available at pre-March 1 pricing", it sounds as such, but I want to confirm.

I'll provide an update once I talk with my guide, but again, I appreciate the information others have taken the time to post here and I wanted to share some as well.

I just received an email with basically the same options! Holding out for OC.
