I don't think that's related to the noise at all. What Kyle experienced seemed like an issue with a rotating component such as an axle spline, final drive gear set, or perhaps even that novel Amsted disconnect clutch. Back in my BMW days, the front strut towers were known to deform (mushroom) because the material was too thin. This just happened from normal suspension loads. Reinforcement plates such as that shown in the Rivian bulletin (or more often in the form of adjustable camber/caster plates) were how this was addressed on the BMWs.@OutofSpecKyle Any chance you can check with Rivian as to whether this issue was present on the vehicle they lent you? It seems a perfect explanation for the noise you heard and I'm sure would give us all peace of mind that it won't be present for current/future deliveries.
It would be nice to have some feedback from Rivian about this noise, especially if they consider it normal.
