LMAO ohhh was wondering! I'm like 2020 R1S order and got a guide, I've been @cohall 'd
Yeah poor guy, I’d be pretty pissed if my neighbor got one. They’ll make it right eventually though, at least he doesn’t have to deal with all the defects there early holders are so far

+1 on the R1S excitement hype train! Maybe a few deliveries this month along with the owner’s guide and maybe some R1S reviews by early May? Here’s to hoping.

Now, is TT just me or does that rear hatch look a little short? I was expecting a more cavernous opening. Maybe these kids are actually incredibly tall and there’s trickery going on with the camera lense.
I had a chat with CS last week about other things, but our conversation ended with some info about the R1S rear cargo area:

Max width: 51.1”
Length behind 2nd row, 3rd folded: 51.7”
Height: 33.6”
Cargo Cap.: 46.7 ft^3 (from website)

For comparison, my LR3 is 10” shorter in overall length with nearly identical measurements for first and second row seating. LR3 rear cargo area is comparable at 44.5ft^3 and 10” shorter, but is about 8” taller.

I think the roofline of the R1S sweeps a bit more than we notice in the photos and the cargo floor is much higher than we’d expect for similar 3 row SUVs. Rivian makes up the cargo space by lengthening the vehicle compared to other 3 row SUVs.
CS posted some video of the R1S yesterday with all the doors open. Another view of the rear hatch:

The hatch is definitely narrow, and the cargo area height is taller than the hatch opening by 4-6” based on some other photos. So, is the hatch opening 33” or is it the cargo area at 33” and the opening is closer to 27-29”? I am thinking it is the later based on that earlier photo of children sitting on the tailgate.

Yikes ? - Oh well. Hopefully it's worth the wait.
It should be. There is a Delivery Estimator chart when you're logged into your Rivian account. Pre-orders placed right now will likely deliver in 2024. It will all depend on ramp up which has been slow due to supply chain issues. If Rivian can iron those out, their plant has the capacity for more than 150k vehicles annually. (Including Amazon Vans)
