After I wake my R1T from sleeping, the driver side AC vents are pointed in a different direction then I left them (towards drivers window) and are only slightly blowing cool air. The center windshield defroster seems to be blowing cold air and fogging the windshield. Moving the vent screen position around doesn’t seem to help much. My only fix is to shut vents off/on and start from scratch, repositioning the vents again. Annoying situation in the Florida heat/humidity. Anyone else with this issue know what the fix might be? Software or hardware?

To your point, while I was loading my truck to head to the Outer Banks I noticed with everything open (doors, front and gear tunnel) the cabin climate system would turn on and off at times, all while the controls showed I had everything turned off.

I feel like my side vents don’t do much. The Vents seem to be positioned oddly, but even with adjustment and cycling the amount of air coming out (referenced by moving hands all over next to vent to find where it is blowing) is minimal
The main center stack has the most flow

Mine does the same thing on the drivers side and fogged up my windows last night as well. My mustang would fog up my windows when it was real humid. At first my ac would not get cold until I changed to recirculate the air in the cabin only. Would be curious to hear from others.

My windshield is always forging up too, defrost is not selected but is blowing cold air. I've got a service ticket opened.

Let me know what happens. Because I had no defrost this morning either just blowing cold air. It felt like the cold was coming out in between the actual defrost vent and the front speaker grill.

Do you have any update on this issue?

I just received my truck yesterday and this was one of the first things I noticed. I reported it in the app today so I guess I'll have to wait till I hear back.

My vents do the same thing, they have a mind of their own sometimes. I find if you turn the vent that is messed up off and back on it goes back to the position it's supposed to be in

I spoke with an advisor who had come up from Miami to help out in Orlando while my advisor was out sick and he has the exact same issue in his R1T that he drives. He said Rivian is aware of the issue and it should be addressed in a future software release. There is nothing that a SC can do now with it. In fact, the SC had listed it as NPF, “no problem found”.

That is annoying. If Rivian is “aware” of it and a fix it spamming. Then it shouldn’t be NPF…. They can find/confirm a unit is affected. There may not be a fix yet, but it isn’t NPF.

My windshield is fogging up too after the .19 update. And AC vents seem to have changed their behaviour. Back seat passengers had hard time getting their vents to blow hard enough without freezing out the front seat passengers. This AC system needs some adjustments...really difficult to control it while you are driving...unless you have a front seat passenger that doesn't mind doing it.

So this annoyed me the first day too, since it was pretty hot here when I took delivery. Then I noticed the driver's side vent is two vertical vents, the left most one barely does anything, while the right one is partially blocked by the dash trim, so it does move (for me) as indicated by the controls, but the air flow is majorly blocked by the trim. Seems like a silly oversight.

Yeah I primary deal with the center vent for cooling direction now.

I wondered if I was the only one with these issues, but I guess I’m not. Makes me think it’s either a software bug or hardware that just doesn’t work.

No I have the same behavior you described in my truck and turned in a ticket for last week. In fact the loaner I picked up yesterday (Vin low 2000) does the exact same thing, as well.
