I swear, while the Rivian app is open it sucks down my iPhone's battery like crazy. I suppose it is because it is constantly querying the car but my battery life is definitely less while the app is open. I hope it's something that changes with a future update.

Is anybody else experiencing this?

On an iPhone, if you click on the battery icon, you'll see a list of apps and how much of the battery they each use. You should be able to tell for sure how much the rivian app is using.

Any update on your delivery?

This one, that one and the other one.

Yep. I end up turning off blue tooth most of the time.

Also, still haven't found a way to remove it from my "notifications". I always like my notifications cleared and can't swipe this one away, even when not using it as a key.

Yup - it's a thing. Force close it when not in use, and hope that it gets fixed soon.
I also force quit it and don’t suffer the battery loss. Unfortunately, the Rivian app now sends an annoying alert every time you close the app telling you you need to leave the app open to use my phone as a key.

I am not sure why Rivian added that alert with the last app update because my phone works perfectly fine as a key and I have no proximity issues with the app closed. My vehicle unlocks when I get within 6 feet and locks after about 20 feet regardless of whether or not the app is open.

Do you mean me? I got my truck a week ago Thursday, 6/30! It all happened really fast. I got a text the Sunday before saying that they could deliver on Wednesday to Thursday. I was like, "What?!" I was expecting it to still be months away.

Android is the same way...I barely use the app now.

Also the android app will automatically turn Bluetooth on if you open it. If you force close the app it stays dead though.

Sad really since it's been this way for months

I had the same problem. Now I only use the app to monitor charging then sign out and force quit it. As far as using the iPhone as a key goes there seems to be a significant delay when the truck is asleep. Far easier to use the key card or FOB.

I had all sorts of issues getting the truck to proximity unlock with my phone and tried repairing, uninstalling everything, etc and put in tickets to no avail. One day I decided to unpair/forget my airpod pro’s and it fixed everything. The proximity functionality is perfect now even after repairing the AirPods.

I have no idea if there’s a causal relationship there but if anyone out there is still having issues with proximity not working, it might be worth unpairing or forgetting all of the other devices configured with your phone.

What exactly does eating your battery amount to? I keep the app running in background 24/7, use PAAK and typically see the app use between 5% and 10% of the battery on average, sometimes less.

This will obviously be impacted by how often you are using PAAK and getting in/out of the truck during the day.

Not really. My Guide confirmed via email yesterday that I "look" on track for delivery in my stated window of Aug-Sept. I'll believe it when I have it :)

They want you to leave it open so they can track you. I turned off location services on it after iOS showed me the track log of the phone gps multiple times per hour. This is addition to the truck gps tracking of course.

Oh man, you weren't kidding. Android here, the Rivian app is about double the battery usage of anything else over the last 24 hours. I really hope they fix this, that makes the app basically unusable. Guess I'll use the fob for now...
