I got info back from my guide and she said the underbody shield was not causing delays issues. I haven't seen many configs in the R1 Shop with underbody shield but maybe they are directing all of those to reservation holders. Anyway, good to know that this add on doesn't seem to be a delay issue currently.

My guide told me the same. She basically said there were no parts shortages (ha!). When I asked why every Shop truck had 21s and none had RUS, she ignored the question.

So I got a guide yesterday...did initial call this morning. She won't grant me Shop access, she's pretty confident that my truck will be build and ready to deliver in 4-8 week window, or much s00ner...8 Steps opened up already, she even got me a full size spare added back with no impact to delivery. Of course, all this happens when I'm no longer in a rush to get the Rivian, I just got a brand new Tacoma..
I'm sure many folks on here would love to be in my situation...

If you got a guide and had 8 steps open your ETA is likely less than a month.

Sigh. I have but one regret in life, and that’s preordering my R1T a year late. I’d take so many of these vehicles.

Rivian, what are you doing?! Give us all shop access already!

R1 Shop has 19 trucks; there are plenty of us within 3-4 hours from ATL in Charlotte who would take these … but their system is borked and inefficient, lol.

My guide has told me it’s only for 2018-2019 preorders, but I’ve seen people on here with 2020-2021 preorders say they have access.

And YouTubers with no special treatments with 2022 orders also get access.

The funny thing is if Rivian opened the shop for me, they would probably get me to drop another couple thousand dollars as my current config is pretty bare.

this thread had me switch to 21s a week or two ago. Got a guide and a confirmation lock today right as I leave for vacation totally out of comms range… I’d rather have 20s but there will be aftermarket options at some point.

It really blows my mind how many Rivian Blue + Forest Edge configurations have been appearing in the R1 Shop. From the very beginning RB was my favorite exterior and FE my favorite interior, I just didn't think they would look good together nor be a popular config.

I'm super curious to see more pictures of these builds out in the wild.

If this hasn’t changed by Monday I’m going to call CS and escalate. It’s so unreasonable to me that they’d have this many trucks available in ATL that no one with shop access apparently wants while I’m over here with a guide for 2+ months looking at my exact config sitting around for weeks. It just makes no sense to me whatsoever.

A: Rivian's stated method of production is to build trucks to customer specs. Ie every truck has a destination before it hits the line.

B: There are many builds in the Shop that few if any Shop invitees want.

C: The Guides party line I've been given multiple times that "there are no shortages"

A + B + C = I call bullshit

If there were truly no parts shortages, why on earth would they build so many trucks without a customer in mind? Rivian would just continue to Build to Order. Makes zero logical sense.

They are pushing 21s and don't have enough underbody shields to go around.

What is up with the need for an under body shield? Doesn't the truck come with protection? You going to crawl and puncture the battery?

Folks dead set on the shield better be getting a full size spare. That was the only deal breaker on my R shop purchase... Needed the spare.

The funky plastic aero wheels on the 21's is like a badge of AMC honor....

I go back and forth on whether the RUS is needed. 95% of the time for me it definitely isn't. However, there are some backroad trails I want to drive up in North Georgia where it would be nice to have. Could I probably get by without it? Yes. It's more for piece of mind.

The Shop has also been conspicuously low on spares and 20s. Essentially all of the things that used to be called the Offroad Package that make the "Adventure Truck" an adventure truck have been uncommon in the Shop. If all I wanted was a daily driver electric truck I would have ordered a base R1T with 21s or a Lightning.

I understand what I'm giving up for the Offroad package. That's a small amount of range/efficiency and payload capacity. For the purposes of long range family travel I will be buying an electric 3 row SUV. Whether that's a R1S, EV9, etc. depends on if Rivian gets there shit together by the time more options come out.

I see my exact config. In here and can't do anything about it..being a 12/21 pre order with no updates at all (such a tease)..and I'm somewhat near Atlanta, in SC
