I had 2 issues with XPEL, that I don't with GSWF:
1. Often times there will be defects on the material. I buy in bulk rolls, and then when somewhere in the roll there are spots (either dark spots from dirt or bumps from who knows what), I lose a lot of the roll as my cut models are made for mass producing, meaning we use large lengths at a time. And I obviously can't ship product where the material is defective, so that hit my margins which in this business are pretty slim.
2. Procurement was a nightmare... not sure if due to shortages or what, but procurement was very unreliable. I am a small business and I can't overstock with hundreds of rolls, so I try to operate more dynamically - stock about 5-8 bulk rolls, when I run down to 3 re-order...in the last few months of me using XPEL I ran out of stock multiple times because of the inability to get new rolls quickly.

So that's it... it's not the kind of issue you'd experience as a customer, but only because someone else is taking the hit for these issues (i.e. me in this case). No such issues with GSWF so far, and out of more than a 1000 PPF products sold with it already, I've had exactly 0 complaints in regards to quality. Also I have a 30 days refunds policy so you are free to get the product, see it for yourself and decide, but I am 99.99% sure that even a pro-installer won't be able to tell which one is which, given unmarked samples.
Appreciate the explanation. Thank you!

When you have such defects, does XPEL warranty that for the installer and replace your roll or partially refund your roll?

Never did it for me. Their support in my experience is non-existent. I once had a similar defect on a GSWF roll and a few days later they sent me a new one.

PS worth noting - I am NOT a certified installer for any brand, as we don’t do installs for now. As such maybe I don’t get the level of service that a certified installer would.

Well I got my first order and everything was packaged well. I also received it very fast and I’m guessing my second order will be the same. I might have to make a third purchase with the GC that was included with my first order. Hopefully that center console organizer is ready soon!

I had PPF installed on the front of my R1T this week. When asking about XPEL, the owner of the company said, "they're more of a marking company than a PPF company these days." He has completely stopped using them as well.

That's what I've been saying for a while too...they are great at marketing & making business, but the truth is that while their PPF is indeed top notch, they are far from being the only one making top notch PPF. There are so many options at a cheaper price and the same quality.

Here is a sneak peak of what to expect, design wise... this goes under the armrest, stays high up, so the bottom is fully usable. Has cutouts for cables (both bottom & front so you can lead the cables outside of the armrest, as Rivian intended it). It has one static divider in the middle and one movable one (the yellow one) with the Rivian headlights cutout in the movable divider.
The inside and outside walls are flocked, the yellow divider isn't.

I am hoping for next week although I must admit I am having setbacks again... to increase print speed I changed the nozzle, but now the quality went missing in action. Still experimenting with settings. Also the stuff that just came yesterday to allow me to flock faster & better didn't work at all, so now flocking is too labor intensive so not sure I will be offering it initially...on top of it all the yellow divider is causing a lot of issues as well, so I might need to get rid of that and just leave the big one in the middle...let's see. I am basically working on that almost non-stop now, trying to have a good product asap but unless I have a good product consistently and at a reasonable speed & price I won't release it. If nothing else works I will just send it to China to have it produced there ?‍♂

Just did the door sills and tailgate. Door sills went pretty smoothly just know you really need to slide (jam?) them toward the weatherstripping to keep them from overlapping the bend in the body. I had to pull the front driver’s side off and redo it because I didn’t push it up far enough.

Tailgate was a little difficult, wanted to keep sliding down as I was trying to get it positioned around the bend of the tailgate, but eventually I got it working a little at a time from one end to the other.

I have some trapped water bubbles. Should I put it in the sun to help them evaporate or should I pop them with a pin? Also got a piece of black fiber trapped under, maybe from the squeegee somehow or maybe just from the air. Either way I can deal with that, it was too hot here today to close the garage door as I was doing it.

Thanks for the feedback.
So, about the door sills PPF - I will be modifying the front cut model to make it a bit shorted so that it's easier to install.
As for the tail gate - I'd first leave it in the sun for a day, if that doesn't fix it just pop them, squeeze them and heat again (sun/hairdryer/heat gun).

Hello:

My R1T is on preorder, but I definitely have my eye on the screen protectors, some ppf up front, center console, and the sunshade someone mentioned earlier.

Thanks for joining the forum!

Haha actually sales wise the yellow is the most popular as it's a pretty close match to the Rivian yellow (found on the calipers), so it looks pretty nice at the end. But I must admit - installing this requires a lot of patience, as it's a lot of spokes! :)
I considered the Yellow spokes for the road wheels for about a second but my Compass Yellow R1T coming this week already has alot of yellow so I went with the Black Carbon Fiber. Also bought the matching Carbon door handle covers so that will be kind of bold already. Question how durable are the spoke decals on the road rims ? If you don't offroad much but do have some snow are they expected to last a few years at least ?

I also bought the medium smoke kit for the front headlights as I saw a picture of them on the Yellow truck and they looked amazing. I would buy the front bumper section too if I could get it in a tinted smoke to match headlights.
