Got the R1T on the highway tonight and it settled it. R1T is a sports car in a trucks body. It was heaven and about 20% more efficient than the Lightning. Dealer getting the Lightning in the AM.
As fun as it is on the highway it's even more fun on the twisties if you have any. I've modified my commute to take more back roads instead of the interstate because of how nice it is to drive on those roads.

I’ve had a MachE for over a year and have never needed to take it in for a software update, all have been done over the air. Some updates had the option to be done by the service dept if you wanted it sooner. My wife has Taycan which shares its guts with an Etron, she did need to take it in once for a major software update which was supposed to make ota updates more streamlined.
I don’t have one, so I obviously don’t know. Coincidentally, my wife was talking to her dad this morning and he was complaining that his Mach E is at the dealer for the past few days for software updates ?‍♂. He’s an early adopter, so maybe something has changed? Again, I have no idea.

Any more updates here? Still loving the Rivian?

Good choice. F150 is boring.

No regrets. Rivian is a good fit for me. It is an upgrade from a MachE. It’s a unique machine. And if you hate it, easy to use it to get something else cool.

Pick up my LE R1T tomorrow and had my Lightning for about 3 months. Leaning towards selling the Lightning. Anyone own both who can comment? 37 year old dad of 1 who really likes the Lightning but like new technology as well. Comfortable ride quality on crappy Dallas roads is one of my top priorities. Any advice?
I have both, took delivery about 2 weeks apart in Aug. I was certain I would have zero thoughts about keeping the lightning. I was wrong. There are things I love about both.

The R1T has a better sound system, infotainment system, and to me is more fun to drive. The exterior storage is also better with the gear tunnel and powered tonneau. Also it's more unique. But this can be bad as well, more expensive to repair. Harder to get parts.

The lightning has a far more quiet interior/ride, better build quality, larger bed, better frunk, more power/outlets, more room/storage in the cab. Also it's probably cheaper to repair and insure.

That said I have my lightning on CAB at the moment. If it hits my reserve I'm keeping the R1T. Sorry I haven't read thru all 4 pages. Did you make a decision yet?

If the size suits you and your happy with 560hp. I think the Lightning is a better truck atm. The Lightning ride, quietness, storage and AA & CP are where the Ford shines. For me the size and conserve mode factored in to efficiency coupled with 250 more ponies was why I kept the R1T
Is it really more silent than the 21" R1T?

Interesting, when I was reading your post it sounded like the Ford had edged it out, hopefully you have a high reserve on C&B so you do not end up with seller’s remorse afterwards.

Fingers crossed it hits the reserve. My wife reminded me that i would regret letting the rivian go. For me it comes down to the Rivian is a jack of all trades. It can be a supercar, grand tourer or a off road beast. That's why I decided to keep it. The Lightning is just an F150. And F150s are good at being a truck.

So glad I sold the Lightning. 25% off the R1S in the spring!

Yes, and it isnt close. I’m in the same position, I like the F150L far more than I ever thought I would and I’ll be keeping both.
That's unfortunate. I have a ram 1500 and I thought the rivian was pretty similar. However I don't think I got on an interstate during test drive.

I didn't expect the ride quality to be as near perfect due to the wheelbase but Rivian should have been able to make it quiet. I do know the rivian has HVAC and motor hum, but it sounds like you're talking about road noise.

I assume you had comparable 21 road tires?

FWIW Rivian is not loud - it's far quieter than my Model Y and Model 3, for example, and easily the quietest car I've ever owned at highway speeds.

But it also has a slightly firmer ride and different choices (e.g. less damping on the motor mounts) than the F150. By all accounts the F150 is just a very plush, quiet ride with better road/wind noise isolation. Nothing to sneer at the Rivian about, but clearly better.
