I completed my 7 steps 23 days ago. My guide told me my truck was waiting for the train. After 2 weeks, my guide said to me that my hood cannot close completely, so, it went back to the factory for repair. After another week, today, my guide said no update, still repairing. I'm really not happy with it, if it was only a minor issue, why it costs 1 week for repairing? If it is a big issue, I am thinking about whether I have to require a replacement, nobody wants a repaired truck before it is delivered. I scheduled a phone call for tomorrow, I don't know if there will be some good news.

It seems like there have been many repairs reported in many of the threads. Some post delivery but definitely some pre-delivery as well. Some of the repairs took a short time, and some of them took a long time. I think it's just Rivian trying to make sure that the vehicle that you receive is a good one, so this is a healthy behavior. If it were me I'd just sit tight and wait until they get everything right. A few weeks here or there isn't going to make a difference for most, but perhaps your situation is different.

I agree with you, my only concern is I don't know what really happened to my truck. Since it was already waiting for the delivery train, why it went back to the factory?

I believe they are staged for freight quite near the factory, so it's likely that was simply the most convenient place (nearest) to get the repair done. That being said you can certainly inquire as to what happened on your call tomorrow. I've read lots of stories about the vehicle being damaged in transit (train or car hauler) and having to be sent to a body shop for 6 weeks to get repaired. I think it happens more than you think but likely they are less transparent about it as it gets some new owners upset.

That is exactly what I am thinking. I think it was damaged when it was loaded onto the train. I hope that is only a minor issue.

Today, I spoke with my guide. She said tomorrow is the timeline to finish the repair, and she didn't know how my truck is damaged. If they cannot fix the issue by tomorrow, they gonna change a new truck for me (I think it may be a big problem, since they cost many days to repair that). But, I don't know how long I still need to wait.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve been waiting 28 days for the 8th step to open, and I know for a fact my R1S has been moving around the service center slowly for at least 25 days!
I can’t get any solid info, and receive vague information as to when it’s going to be ready.
Strangely enough I got an invite for an R1S “demo drive” and booked it for 10/3. Hopefully they figure out how to deliver mine before that drive!

I think it unlocked only several steps at the beginning and when you finished some of them, other steps should unlock.

Something happens and Rivian is not that transparent to share all the information with us.... I only hope my truck has no big issue. I don't want to find a bunch of issues when it is delivered to me. If they cannot fix the issue, I prefer to let them switch a new truck for me.

thanks.
I'm sitting on step 5, upload documents...not sure what I would upload other than insurance at this point which I plan on holding off on getting until I actually have a delivery date...

Don't make the payment, until you set up your delivery day.

I agree!! I spotted at least 6-7 other R1S’s in the lot, and I’d pretty much take any one of them! Lol. Im sure they are already assigned to others though, who are going through the same sleepless nights waiting for delivery.
I think the main issue on mine is panel alignment and some gaps. Thankfully nothing mayor that I can see, unless there is some mechanical issue holding up delivery which isn’t visible from a walk around.

That's right. However, I cannot physically see my truck. So, it is impossible to identify what happen. I think it may be damaged by someone when it was loading to the delivery train. If it only needs bodywork, that's fine for me. Even nobody will feel happy about that.
