Mine wasn't delayed, it was actually pushed up so not bad news for everyone. It's clear the T is being prioritized over the S at this point, but not sure what people have been expecting as it seems a ton of people who have ordered after people like myself are expecting quicker delivery dates. Some people have been waiting for 3-4 years.

I totally get it. I was originally an R1S preorder and I bet if I had kept the S I would be mid-late 2023. But because I switched to the T, which they are prioritizing and have been smart with my configuration, along with living in an area that they clearly are prioritizing deliveries (Denver) its moved up.

I have a July 2021 deposit and my delivery estimate is January - December 2024. Rivian are a bunch of clowns. This truck is going to be outdated by then.

If you want one quicker get rid of the max pack.

All sorts of bad news out of Rivian with this and the Max Pack email. Once again Rivian is failing on communicating with customers.

Failing on communicating with customers and the customers not liking the message are two different things.

Given rising interest rates and inflation, some of these delays may be to Rivian deciding to do things like not hire another shift at the plant. It could be Bosch raised their motor prices, so Rivian is trying to minimize orders that don’t include their own motors. Maybe Rivian is trying to re-engineer some aspects of the R1 platform.


As for people complaining that they will go buy something else, I would not put all my eggs in one basket, hoping one manufacturer will hit the timeline that works for you. I would absolutely have several preorders or options, as I do now.

I’m trying to figure out what part of the R1S is still constrained.

Looking through this thread there are a lot of 2021 R1Ts being delivered ahead of 2018-2020 R1S reservations. I’m curious how many October/December R1S dates did not get pushed to 2023.

There are many people here with earlier dates than me so I can’t really complain. I am 8 miles from the Costa Mesa service center, have an LE R1S with BM interior and have never changed my configuration since it was configured in November of 2020. End of June my June/July got pushed to October/December, end of October my October/December gets pushed to February/March, pretty curious what happens in January 2023….
