Rivian should offer wheels with winter snow tires

Rivian has now started selling the different sized wheel sets. What I need is a set with snow tires. I don't care what size wheel it is but please Rivian offer a set with winter tires. WTF... this seems pretty basic. Rivian don't make me drive my 21" tire this winter just because there isn't a good option.

I hear your pain and it's probably coming down the pipe eventually. But couple things for now.

There is not harm in swapping tires on/off rims each season. It's a pain but can be done. There are 21" Blizzaks that fit.

If you want a dedicated wheel/tire combo...aftermarket is an option. TireRack has a bunch of wheels up now. TireRack scans all the wheels and if they list if for the Rivian, they will guarantee it to fit. They don't have TPMS sensor but any reasonable tire guy in your area should be able to clone your TPMS and use universal sensors. If that doesn't work, search here, someone used 24/7 tmps site and they can sell you a set guaranteed to work.

I was lucky to buy a 20" set of oem wheels from a member here. Today actually! Otherwise I would have went with aftermarket and it would have been cheaper. Post up on WTB and see if you can dig up a set...you never know.

For $2,100 you can get a set of 20" ar944 wheels and blizzak from tirerack. I'm still in the middle of my research, but it seems viable.

What other manufacturers offer dedicated snow tires as an option? And if someone needs snow tires, why didn't they option the 20" ATs that are 3 peak mountain certified?

You're right, none. I could have sworn there was a 21" Blizzak LT 123 tire....

Well there is supposed to be a Nokian R5 coming out in 275/50/21. But in addition to being almost $600/tire, the tire compound appears to be 100% unobtanium right now.

Deleted prior response content because I didn't realize I was referring to a 20" tire.
Anyone find any good options for a 21"? The Pirelli Scorpion is supposed to be all-weather, but the canyons outside of SLC can be pretty intense.

Looking at Nokian's Rivian page (https://www.nokiantires.com/rivian) they offer these suggestions for 21" Rivian tire options:

size of 275/50 R21 in:

• Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV (winter, non-studded)
• Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta 10 SUV (winter, studded)

Buy a set of 20” wheels with TPMS sensors from Rivian, then buy a set of your preferred winter tires in 275/60R20(same diameter as your 21”).

From the parts department, pretty much all European mfgs have winter sets available.

None sell them with the car.


I have a focus RS, which In canada came with a set of winter wheels and tires as standard in addition to the summer set. an apparent first.

I have driven through some absolutely terrible winter storms just using 3 peak rated tires and honestly never felt like I needed more. Some treads weren't great in all conditions (Duratracs) compared to others (Cooper AT3) but they all got me there safe.
