For real? Ugh none of this makes any sesne. They need to provide SOME kind of explaination on their logic to help make sense of how they're assigning dates.
For real.

To be fair, was on the chat this morning, and was told I’m not the only person in this same situation. She reported it, and said they had a list of account a that needed to be “revisited.”

My working theory is that they are using the Rivian NAV that they developed in house to measure the distance to a service center.

your feb 2019 is a really early order to have a later delivery estimate than i have... since i ordered 2 years later... and you're a freakin LE!

Nice! Congrats! Glad to hear some good news after last week. :sun:
I think your positive outlook really helped!

I completed 6 of the 8 steps yesterday and have an actual VIN number (ending in -1445). Just got off the phone with my Rivian Guide who reports that the vehicle is built, has cleared inspection, and is now waiting for transport to ATL. She also cautioned me that this part can be slower than one might expect.

Lets GOOOOOO!

This is an NYC delivery and hope that is not a problem... Brooklyn SC
Hope their fulfillment team gets its act together soon...
Is anyone noticing an unexpected estimated delivery issue after adding the paint protection option to their configuration? just trying to figure out what happened after CS described a late 2022/early 2023 delivery window in an email response a month ago.

I don't think R1S production froze. I can see why pre-orders over a year apart can have the same window. Ideally if they Ramp to 300-400 per week, then we will be in the same window. Not salty about it at all.

My issue is giving a delayed delivery window half way through my current delivery estimate. I have no confidence that my feb-march window will hold. Specially since there is another update coming Jan.
Just plan for a bit longer....

Can we stop with the weird conspiracy theories? “They want to hit 25,000” “They want less competition so trucks first!” “They want more full price orders!”

That’s all nonsense…Let’s look at what Rivian has actually stated and what we can see…
  • Rivian said they are going to focus even more on producing “large” batches of specific configurations to increase efficiency.
  • The R1T seems to have taken priority in the production schedule…according to the data being collected.
  • R1S orders outnumber R1T orders by more than 2:1
To me, it’s logical then that Rivian would focus on getting out as many of the R1T orders as possible before switching its focus onto the R1S.

Even though that isn’t ideal for R1S pre-orders, doing it the other way around (R1S first) it would cause even more of a delay for early R1T order holders that haven’t received their truck.

Bottom line is, as we all know, there are a lot more factors involved that are determining delivery date than just one’s spot in the queue. And when they shift their production plans, some people move up and some get delayed.

There’s no problem with being upset that their order got pushed back, but don’t try to push some weird narrative about the situation because of it.
Speak quietly please...they may be listening.... ?

Lets slow down for a second.

Plenty of folks like myself who had their updated estimates still fall within the original 1H 2023 window aren't drawing any conclusions that Rivian is a failed company.
Nothing but doom and gloom

So.....my window is actually EARLIER than I wanted (Jan-Feb 2023) and I am concerned that the power tonneau cover won't have been worked out by then.

Curiously, my configuration still shows the power tonneau cover and I still have an actual date instead of a "processing" message.

Anyone else have a date in the January-February 2023 range with a power cover still configured?
Yes.

Update:

Spoke with Rivian CS and it looks like they don't expect to have the tonneau fix in place by Jan-Feb of next year. I was told that eventually they would remove the powered option from my configuration and ask me to pick from either manual or no cover.

I told CS that I want to wait until the powered option is available EVEN if that means pushing my delivery date back. CS said that they would note the account. Let's see where that gets me. For my use case, the powered tonneau is too important and I might be pushed into an RS if I can't get one configured.

Thank you for chatting with Rivian! My name is Kyle, how can I help you today?

Hi Kyle
I currently have a power tonneau cover configured.
I have not changed my configuration to either manual or no cover. I show an estimated delivery date of Jan-February 2023. Does that mean that Rivian anticipates having the re-engineered cover ready for that estimate, or am I going to need to change my configuration? I would like to wait in order to ensure that I have a working power tonneau, even if that means pushing back my delivery date.

We do not expect to have the cover completed by that time, but you are able to change to manual or no cover and still expect delivery within the same estimated window.

I see. If I would like to wait for a power tonneau, can I push my delivery date back?

You are welcome to wait, but at this time we do not have a timeframe when the powered cover will become available again. If we have any news to share in the future we will be sure to let you know!

Great! I know you are hard at work trying to make that change. So, how do I indicate that I would like to wait? If I don't change my configuration, should I expect to eventually see a revised delivery estimate date?

I can take note of that on your account if you'd like, and they will be updating the configurator soon to remove the powered option, so if you don't change it yourself, it will automatically change you to one of our available options.

Got it. I definitely would like to wait. For my use case, the powered option is too important and my preference would be to push delivery back in order to get a functioning powered option. Anything you can do to indicate that preference in the account will be appreciated.

I'll definitely take note of that for you and as soon as we have more info to share on the powered cover we will let you know!

Awesome. Thank you, Kyle. Have a great rest of your evening.
