For what it’s worth, it does appear there are some accounts being flagged for further examination. I called into CS today and was told mine was one of them.

No promises (and perhaps a red herring), but for those with a relatively early pre-order (guessing 2020 or earlier) that we’re pushed to 2024, there is still some hope we won’t get completely screwed. Recommend calling into CS and asking for a review if your account.

Fingers crossed.

EDIT: The CS rep did mention there is significance to having a configuration that was largely being manufactured today (no max pack or dual-motor or any known delay configs) and living close to an SC. She said she’d have expected it to be in 2023 and would take a “closer look” with the team.

07/19 order date. R1S launch edition, LAS, OC/dark wood, 22 bright, no under body, Florida delivery.
I was Oct-Dec, now Apr-June. I'm heartbroken about the delay.
I would have gone White if I knew I could get it sooner. I like the two-tone look of the R1S with the piano-black roofline, and think the lighter colors accentuate it. Both White and Silver look amazing, White is much more common and I think the Silver will do a better job hiding dirt and look cleaner.
For the truck, El Cap is my hands down favorite.
A lot of recent YouTube videos of RIS Limestone, still no R1S with OC interior, which I am dying to see. I doubt we will see one this year, but I still check YouTube daily with hopes of finally seeing one. I guess that will be my ritual for the next 6-months!

Thanks for this info.

I chatted with CS to express my anger, but it sounds like I need to call. Is that correct?

Do you mind sharing what you said to CS to get that response?

Glacier White is also a free color, what is the data on that?

FWIW, I am 1/22 reservation date, LA Silver, Adventure, Quad/Large, Black+wood, spare tire, no other options, "2024" estimate.
I think you are correct - LAS and white were the free colors. My memory sucks though.

So there are more data points for Glacier White Trash than any other color at the link for the R1S (178)
11/2022 - 3
2023 - 100 (38 in the 1H, remaineder in 2H)
2024 - 59

so maybe this one skew that way too?

Candidly, I called CS when the new estimates first came out, because I had hoped it was perhaps a mistake. The CS agent strongly empathized (everyone I’ve spoken to at Rivian has almost always been very understanding) and, after looking at my account, said she’d escalate to a Team Lead.

I got a form email basically saying it’s really due to batching and supply line issues and thought that was that.

When I called in today, the agent let me know it was actually getting escalated - totally unbeknownst to me.

Not sure that helps at all, but it’d a basic synopsis of what happened. I didn’t say anything specifically other than to express my surprise at the new estimated delivery date I had received.

I just spoke with CS. She confirmed that they are flagging certain 2019 and 2020 orders for review. She flagged mine, so I am grateful that you told me about this; Im not sure if they are doing it on their own without a customer asking.
I believe what she said was that they would flag in order to provide a more detailed window (something more specific than "2024" that includes months), but I don't recall her saying anything about the potential to receive an earlier window.
She was also unsure if these flagged accounts would get updates before the mass update in January 2023.
Beyond that she commented on stuff that they are still in the process of ramping up production on R1S and that it is better to have the large battery pack at this point.

You LE order holders were way smarter than myself on this. I really regret not going that route due to some promise of a longer range R1S in early 2021 :(

This is where a multi-option/preference component to the configurator would really help. There’s 3-4 colors I’d be fine with, but just stuck with LA Silver since it was the default (was hoping to get to see the colors in-person on the R1S at some point). If picking a different color moves up delivery by 6mo, I’d gladly do that.

Will also be interesting to see whether an R1S shop opens, and if it does, it’d be good for them to invite folks into that more based on original deposit date rather than their projected delivery window.

Absolutely agree. I even told CS many months ago that I was flexible with my configuration and the CSR said they would add that note to my profile. Doubt it did any good if it ever occured.

LAS if my first choice, but I would consider 2-4 other color options if it moved my delivery window up 6 or 9 months. To be honest, 2024 is not a delivery window, it is Rivian saying they haven't made any plans to make the order.

Regarding the R1S shop, I doubt we see that for a long time. They are slowly ramping the R1S as opposed to the rate they did for the R1T, so there should be fewer to offer. If they do offer the R1S, I would guess location will be the #1 factor regarding what is offered to you based upon how the R1T shop works...beyond that, I completely agree that when an R1S goes into a shop for a certain region, preorder date should be the #1 consideration when deciding who gets access to the shop

Based on these DPs, there should be no reason other LA silver R1S orders can't be delivered before 2024. I wonder if there are other colors (maybe beside Glacier white, which is the other "free" color) that have 2024 "delivery windows."

Glacier White was free in the beginning, now they charge $1,750 for it. LA Silver is the only free paint option.
