I was just at the SC this morning to get my nuts torqued. Easy process.. pull into the east parking area, follow the signs, honk your horn, put your truck up to highest setting, turn your wheels all the way to the right. A nice young lady came out with a tech. Took like 5 minutes or so to do the torquing. Sounds like mine were in the previous "good" amount of torque.

They had 15+ R1Ts and maybe 5 R1Ss out in the lot. They said they have delivered somewhere around 200 vehicles total.

How did people fare driving yesterday morning? What setting is optimal for those conditions? My wife was in our R1S and said it was not great. It was improved once she switched from High regen to standard, but was still pretty sketchy. We have 20" ATs. Maybe it was just a perfect situation that no matter what you drive, the roads were just really bad for a few hours.

I agree it was a little sketchy yesterday morning. Pretty much glare ice in several places...I about didn't make it through a roundabout. On the other hand - some other drivers didn't make it. I switched to standard Regen on the drive home and it seemed better. We have the 20" ATs as well.

I put 20" Blizzaks on Friday. They are cheaper than the AT tires, so its almost like I'm saving money!

I thought it handled pretty decent yesterday, there was a small amount of sliding when coming to a complete stop due to the regen, but overall it seemed good.

I would advise buying the jack pucks as Discount Tire wasn't equipped with any. They were able to complete the change by doing one at a time.

Did you buy a separate set of rims or are you just going to have them swap tires each season?

I'm just having them swap tires. Based off everything I've read, the tires probably wont last more than 2-3 seasons, so the cost difference wouldn't make it worth it.

To those that have their R1's, How are they handling the cold so far? Looking forward to seeing how snow mode works as well!

I have had mine about 3 weeks now. At around 20 decrees it takes half again the range to get places. So 100 miles takes 150 in range. I have not driven it much in subzero yet. I have not received the update yet so have not tried snow mode yet. I think it is coming out is stages. Also living in outstate I have hesitated to take it very far in the winter with the charging horror stories and simply the lack of chargers.

I think its a nice upgrade. It really helps when slowing down on slippery roads. There was a detailed post from someone else that went into detail.

Efficiency is pretty low when you get below 20ish degrees.. even worse below zero. With the 20" AT tires, the Snow Mode really helps the most with the low regen when coming to a stop. I didn't have any trouble driving through snow, starting, turning otherwise in the All Purpose mode, but I can see where the gentler acceleration of the Snow Mode could be useful, especially with other types of tires.

I think the HVAC needs a little more tuning.. it seems like it gets warm in the cab, then it changes to blowing cooler air. But it does start up blowing hot right away which is nice. Turning on the seats and steering wheel remotely is also pretty nice (enabled in the new update).

I've been having the same discussion in other threads regarding the HVAC system. I think the southerners are having difficulty understand how much it struggles in the single digits and below.

Is this an EV problem all around? As far as the HVAC system keeping the cabin warm in cold days.

This is my first EV, so I can't compare.

I don't seem to have the same experience as @bdavis171 though. I've set it to 70 and it gets comfortable quickly and stays there.

I do think the HVAC is a bit glitchy though - it switches to blowing cold air once in awhile. And pulling up the climate screen shows it switched to AC.

We're headed to west central Illinois on Saturday. We'll give it a the HVAC and range a solid test! ? I'll report back.
