I just want dashcam and weather radar overlay on the map....
Weather radar overlay on the map would be *chefs kiss*.

Hell, if you can pull the data and get an overlay for CODOT, NMRoads, other states etc for closures, be able to view the cams for road conditions, etc I'd be absolutely floored and giddy. Driving around in rural southern CO / northern NM this time of year, the radar data and DOT data can be absolutely necessary for determining what to do in the moment for safety (which may just include staying home / or staying out, but hunkered down, or leaving right this instant rather than 45 minutes later, etc). I imagine that's the same for lots of areas around the US.

Some of us don't want or care for anything apple
I think most people who want Apple CarPlay are directly or indirectly advocating for screen projection in general, which includes Android Auto.

Given the typical early adopter characteristics and the phone as a key feature it seems like almost all Rivian customers at this point will have a modern smartphone. Since most smartphone users consider their phone to be at the core of their mobile digital life*, many would benefit from screen projection. A lot of people have asked for a specific function to be added to the Rivian native infotainment someday to make it perfect, while screen projection would satisfy the majority of these requests today if Rivian supported it.

*Any manufacturer offering phone as a key is basically acknowledging this.

Looks like an attempt to mirror Tesla.
Tesla shadowing on infotainment feels like it’s saying “We know better what the customer wants and won’t budge a single pixel of control over the experience. We’ll invent the premium experience ourselves”

I do not disagree with this my pushback is against those that say "overwhelming everyone wants apple" (I'm paraphrasing) considering there are more android devices then apple in the wild I would be hard pressed to say the majority of Rivian owners are apple users.... however I admit I could be wrong.

I get Rivian's desire to keep Apple out off their rice bowl. Why would you give them Apple a foothold just for them to leach profits off of your customer base?

Tidal is a high quality streaming service. A definite upgrade in sound quality and I am sure it was a licensing deal that was much easier for Rivian to swallow.

I'd be shocked if any of the streaming services cost Rivian money to license. If anything they should generate money through revenue share agreements, especially with a company like Tidal that wants to gain share. Why should Rivian pay to help Tidal acquire customers? The reverse is also true, but that's why it should be a neutral relationship because ultimately Tidal comes out ahead through more subscribers for it's premium service. It ultimately does cost Rivian in supporting the app on an ongoing basis.

Big update. Snow, Spotify/Music ads, suspension improvements, battery management, highway assist, additional app functions, other. Pretty material.

So is Snow Mode an offroad mode option only? In an early conversation with Rivian in October, they made it seem like they might be considering both on road and off road snow versions, not sure from this?

Thanks Cohall. Merry Christmas.
Modes > Snow.
Note: To go off road in snow, use the Off-Road All-Terrain mode.
It appears to be for on-road. For off-road snow environment, looks like you still use "off road all terrain ".

YES YES YES! I loved using this on my Tesla. So often you have the address on your phone and need to send it to the car! Awesome!
This feature alone almost made me pay for the Audi subscription. I missed it when it got shut off. Glad to see it coming to Rivian.

I saw a poll recently and Apple Music was the top request by a pretty significant margin. Wasting development cycles on adding Tidal isn’t really listening to their customers.
Tidal is a high end music service with quality music files. It would actually take advantage of the Meridian 1,400 watt sound system, so it makes sense. But yeah, pretty nich and not what the masses are clamering for.

But you need to subscribe to Tidal's more expensive plans to get HD music.

Both Apple Music and Amazon Music have HD/Atmos with their standard plan and many more people use them. Even Tesla is including Apple Music in their next update.

Spotify doesn't have anything in HD or 3D and yet they are the first to be included.

Spotify is the most popular music streaming service worldwide (Apple has slightly more users in the US). That is why they were included first. Hopefully they will add HiFi like they have been promising. I find their catalog to be a bit deeper in the music I like. I will try Tidal again once it is include. Last time I tried Tidal it didn't have some of my music.
