Meanwhile, those of us who need this for a family hauler replacement continue to wait for ours…
"Need"? Surely there's a Honda Odyssey available.

They got it out but took a CAT with a boom and a tow truck with 10k lb. winch.

It’s stuck no one is stealing it I guess. It’s not like some one will steal the engine. This SUV will be there for weeks. And it should teach owner a lesson that if it is capable of off roading doesn't mean you should find a swamp and try to see if it works.
Already out and gone

Stuck happens, lake beds are particularly bad as just sediment and nothing to provide traction as you dig your way to frame. Always carry a tow strap and some d-ring shackles off road at a minimum. Depending on distance to solid ground, another vehicle is of little help in these situations (other than a good winching point). Truck is fine other than in need of a good cleaning, sometimes you get gravel and rocks around brake rotors that can be an issue.

The point was more in line with there are folks who are/have been waiting a long time who have a more sane need (such as replacing our old non-odyssey family vehicle) for use on pavement vs deciding it would be idea to go lake edge mud-bogging.

Uh - it’s an adventure vehicle not a mall cruiser. There are going to be all kinds of folks with all kinds of crazy uses, go buy a Tesla if you want to stay on the pavement ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Most people will use it as a mall cruiser as you derisively call it (aka real life). Any more updates from the person who damaged his new S?

I get that and will as well for the most part, was just meaning because someone is actually using it doesn’t mean it should have gone to a “more deserving” person who is on the waiting list that would keep it on pavement. I’ve been waiting for an EV that can actually do the things I like to do when not shuttling kids etc every day, I want to see you guys using these trucks in adventurous ways was all ? Wasn’t meaning to be an internet jerk …

So if no one is watching 'Matt's off road recovery' on YouTube, or any of the channels that they work with like 'tow mater' and all sorts of fun stuff, it's pretty fascinating what people get up to and what it takes to get them out.

The biggest issue is the drought, the water is receding and people are driving up to it but the ground isn't dried out so they sink to the frame like this one did. Getting them out is an adventure but possible, but that back window says someone who doesn't understand physics and suction tried and lucky that no one was killed.

Protip: don't ever use a hitch ball to yank something out. That's terrifying, it works great until it doesn't and someone gets hit with a 17lb object going hundreds of miles an hour.

Driver is an idiot doing this without any sort of recovery gear or 2nd car but I wonder if setting suspension to Sport, letting it sit on belly and shoveling some sand under tires would help?
Great idea! I just wish that you could have kept it positive instead of judging the dude. If a little lapse of common sense makes you an idiot, we're all idiots.

If you watch enough Matt's Off Road Recovery you'll find out that when you need to break the suction holding the stuck vehicle, you do want to use a winch rather than the recovery rope. Steady pressure is what will break the suction.
